out. WASHINGTON T R I f At about 7:30 a.ra. on Tuesday morning, April 30, a group of forty Juniors and Seniors began to gather in front of our high school building in preparation for our long awaited trip to Washington, D. C. Since our group was 3o large, it was pre-arranged by our Superintendent, Mr. Cannon, to charter a bus for the trip. Soon the bus arrived, and we were on our way. We arrived at the Houston Hotel in Washington about supper time that evening. We freshened up very quickly and th.;n enjoyed our first meal in Washington. On Wednesday, the first building we toured was the Bureau of Engrav- ing. We were all astonished at the huge amounts of moneyI Next came the Capitol, and in our tour of the Senate, it gave us strange feeling when the guide informed us that we were seated very near the seats that the Puerto-Ricans sat in who tried to kill President Truman. AI30 we viewed Washington from the Washington Monument. That night, v.e took a boot ride down the Potomac. Thursday we visited th Franciscan Monastery, which was very impress- ive. We also went through the White. House. The icafc of the Unknown Sol- dier was visited, too. On Friday morning we checked cut, of the Houston Hotel and began our trip to the Luray Caverns. Cn our way vro stopped to sew Mount Vernon, It was very interesting to see hew the people lived in the past. The Luray Caverns were very beautiful. We arrived at Natural 3ridge, Virginia ne r supper tine Friday eve- ning. After supp.r we went down to the natural bridge and saw the Drama of the Creation. We wore “11 aoased at the bridge. We spent the night there and after breakfast Saturday morning a happy greup loaded the bus to start home after a most unforgetable trip.
