The Pinecrest Wrestling team went through one of the toughest weeks on their schedule during the past seven days and emerged with an impressive win over Raeford Hoke but fell just short of a victory over defending Sec- tional Champion Cape Fear. Last Thursday, Pinecrest traveled to Raeford for an important conference match Girls Open Golf Season The season for girl's golf has started once again. The first practice of the season was September fourth. The team met at Pinecrest and from there traveled to the nearby Holly Hills Golf Course. They plan to have a match each Monday. The first match will be on September eighth. The team is By BETH BLUE The Pinecrest Girl's Tennis feam are opening their fall season with the first conference match on Sept. 10 against Hoke County. Coach Wallis Green stated that this will probably be a rebuilding year as the only returning play- ers from last year's top six are Ann Heisel and Kay Linder. Lucinda Cole, last year's number 7 player will also be returning this year. These three will start the season playing in the top six. Sandy Douglass and Melanie Middleton, newcoming sopho mores, will be holding two other positions while the number six player has not yet been decided Cheerleading Clinic On December 13, the Pinecrest Varsity Cheerleaders sponsored a cheerleading clinic at the Southern Pines Middle School Gym from 9:30 a.m.-1:00 p.m. Anyone - whether cheerleader or not - in grades 7-11 was in- vited to attend.
