Baaacfafg' ' The school year 1950-51 has been a busy year for the Board of Education in View of Work toward further progress in the development of the central school system. Changes of residence, death of one member and job changes have created several personnel changes in the Board during the year. The Board lost one of its rnost esteemed members upon the death of Wallace R. Newcomb, who gave freely of his time, knowledge and wisdom in aid- ing the central school district. Pine Valley Central is a better school today because of the effort and interest put forth by Mr. Newcomb. He was a friend of education. What has been accomplished is hard to put down in a limited space. lt may be sum- med up that effort has been made to improve standards of education and the facilities helping provide that education. Buildings have been put in better repair: more transportation is provided: two teachers have been added to the faculty: a broader adult education pro- gram is operating: a new salary schedule for teachers has been put in operation: additional sports activity by way of football has been added: more teaching and operational equip- ment has been purchased: the safety conditions of the building have been studied and corrections started: seven committees of lay persons for a new building program have been organized and are working on plans for a new building. These are but a few of the nu- merous activities of the board. Our hats are off to these men who give so freely of their time that our school be a better school and we, the students, have more opportunities. E51
