PROPHECY It is now May 10, 1964. My phone just rang. Naturally it was Barbara. She calls me at the same time every morning. She lives a couple of houses from me and has since the summer of '54. We live in San Francisco, California. This morning instead of the usual gossip she had some interesting news for me. She had received a telegram from her sister, Evelyn who had stayed back in Pine Twp. It said there was going to be a Class of '54 reunion at Pine High School. Barbara told me to come over to her house and over a cup of cof- fee we would make plans to attend. We decided to leave that very week end, since the reunion was to be held the next week, and invited our husbands to go along. Barbara's husband owns a line of Standard Stations in San Francisco and my husband is a Doctor there We made our train reservations, wired Evelyn telling her where and when to meet us, and prepared to leave that week-end. A few days later we were on our way. We stopped in Denver, Colorado long enough to leave some passengers and for two more to board. One of them looked familiar, and when we got a better look at him we saw that it was an old class mate of ours, Alvin Coffey, and his wife. After graduation Alvin had joined the Army and he and his wife were now living in Denver, and had two children who were staying with friends. We talked over old times and found out that they, also, were on their way back to good old Pine. When we got to Chicago we got off the train and were on our way to find Evelyn, when we saw Cecilia and her husband. She didn't see us at first so we went over where she was and she flashed a smile of recognition which was al- ways one of her habits. We started talking and learned she and her husband had just returned from Hawaii after a vacation. Her husband was a lawyer in Fowler which was now the third largest city in Indiana. After a few min- utes Evelyn and her fiance, Harris Kretzmeier, met us. He was now the Nat- ional President of the Hot Rod Clubs of America. Soon we were all on our way back to Pine Twp. The next Monday we went to the school house for the reunion. Mick Murphy was now Coach at Pine and he and his wife had two boys. He told us that Pine had won the State Basketball Tourney for two years straight. Then we saw the president of our class, Junior Skoog, and his wife. He had a 500 acre farm in Pine Twp., and was also the township trustee. They had two sets of twin boys. We could see he was very happy with his wife and family. We noticed Bonnie and her husband coming in the door later on in the day and she explained she had been delayed in Indianapolis where she was Head of Nurses at the Robert Long Hospital. Her husband was the famous doctor who had discovered the cure for cancer. We were very proud to have such a prominent man among us. All too soon the orchestra was playing the closing tune which was the theme of our Prom in '53, and we realized that it was time for us to part a- gain after a very exciting and special day with all our class mates at good old P.
