The festivities be an with a three-course banquet. Between the courses of the banquet, music was furnished by two musical groups. The first--Jim Sherwood and Roger Hickman, sang Tulips in Heather , and the Junior Girls' Sextette then concluded the entertainment by singing Mam'selle . Following the banquet, the guests adjourned to the beautifully decorated auditorium. The theme, Evening in Paris , was carried out with dainty Perisian sidewalk cafes along the walls. The scent of small pine trees, which were placed in front of these cafes, mingled with the fragrant aroma of bouquets of lilacs, helped to create the illusion of being seated in an outdoor cafe in the streets of Gay Paree. Music for the unforgettable occasion was furnished by Howie Hill's Orchestra. PINE MOTOR CO. Homecoming The 1955 Homecoming was held two days of festive activities. On Thursday afternoon, a parade was held, which consisted of the different grades marching in groups, with the queen and her attendants riding in separate cars. In the evening the first game under the new lights was played between Pillager and Pine River, with the latter being victorious by a score °f +5-13. Between halves of the game the Senior candidates: Audre Johnson. Junnell Lien, Norma Johnson, Gwenayne NIes, and Mari-lynn Carlson, were introduced to the ardent fans. Of these five girls, Audre was crowned Homecoming Queen by co-captains Jim Gearey and Pat Suerth. Janice Nelson and Lucille Bjore were the attendants from the Junior and Sophomore classes respectively. On Friday evening the annual Homecoming Dance took place, with many alumni attending. Music for the dance was furnished by the new Hi-Fi phonograph, which was a gift to the school by the Senior class of 1955. This was the start of a fairly successful season. The Tigers played a total of 6 games, losing three and winning three for the season. From a standpoint of wins and losses, the season was average, but from the excitement of games and the enjoyment of the crowds, the season oould be termed a success. The Pine River School and community started working to equip an athletic field with lights for soft-ball in the early part of sumner. During the fall, with a few changes, they completed the lighting for football games. The Tigers only had one opportunity to play under the lights which was their Homecoming game with Pillager. The evening was very successful as Pine River triumphed over Pillager with a score of I4.S for the Tigers and 13 for the Huskies. Although the evening was very cold, a large crowd turned out for the game. Everyone felt the lights were a huge success and will make for enjoyable games in the future.
