Now are our brows bound with victorious wreaths, Our bruised arms hung up for monuments, Our stem alarums changed to merry mettings, Our dreadful marches to delightful measures. -Richard III As our years at Pine Plains draw to a close, we look back over a vast sea of experiences, achievements, and rewards. In an effort to preserve these memories, we present this annual. th'ii i ratum The dedication of the yearbook is the class’ special way of thanking a faculty member for outstanding dedi- cation. This year the Pine Log is dedicated to a man who has given unselfishly of his time, talents, and effort that we might develop into mature, responsible indi- viduals. We thank the Clark's for a wonderful week and Coach Haugh for taking us. They came back to town hoping to find a few more boys to round out the squad. They were a little disappointed because they found very few interested, so few they had to drop the Junior Varsity team. September 24, Pine Plains played host to Coxsackie-Athens. From the opening kick- off the Bombers offense proved too much for them, and the Pine Plains defense contained their offense, finishing with Bombers 48 Cosackie 0. October 1, they were hosts to Red Hook, their long-time rivals. This game was ex- pected to be an extremely good one and it did not disappoint anyone except Red Hook. Bombers 38 Red Hook 35 October 15, the Bombers traveled to Mt. Everett, Massachusetts. The Bombers again proved that they could win after being defeated. Pine Plains 26 Mt. Everett 6 October 22 Pine Plains visited Millbrook. It was to prove a poor game for the Bombers because of the great number of players with severe colds. The game was lost in the final 19 seconds on a touch down pass completed by Millbrook. Bombers 13 Millbrook 19 October 29 Pawling awaited the Bombers on their home ground. The Bombers fell be- hind rapidly with the defense falling apart and the offense unable to get off the ground. Bombers 6 Pawling 26 November 5 Dover Plains comes to meet the Bombers. At this game the Bombers threw in the hat. Bombers 0 Dover Plains 25 October 8 Pine Plains visited Haldane. DeGarmo 106 The Bomber Grapplers entered their second wrestling season with only two letter- men returning, (Captains Carr and Eckhardt), and endured their tough thirteen matches-- two tournaments scheduled with only fourteen regular particpants. This handful of loyal athletes improved with every match and started to win regularly toward the end of the season. Generally they had to overcome ten to twenty points and they were forced to give opponents in forfeits because there were not enough personnel to fill all weight classes. These wrestlers won three out of their last five matches. Only two wrestlers, seniors Carr and Harrison, will not be reporting for service next season. Wisell, Hagenbuch, Hicks, Halas, Silvernale, Murphy, McGhee, VanEcharte, Robinson, Eckhardt, and Peck will provide a fine nucleus for '67-'68 matches. If there are enough interested freshmen who report for workouts next year, and if practice space is available within next year’s crowded schedule, the Bombers may try to improve upon this year’s poor support and attempt wrestling for a third year. One of the highlights of the season was the first Pine Plains Holiday Wrestling Tournament in which seven other teams participated: Arlington B ; Brewster; Catskill; Litchfield, Conn.; Onteora B”; Ellenville; and Castleton. Ellenville placed first in the tournament. Every student sooner or later asks himself, Isn't it time I stopped prepar- ing and started doing? Shouldn't I get on with the business of life? But experience shows that the business of life is precisely the business of learning. To be sure, what is learned must be applied. But the more we learn, the more we have to offer ourselves, our families, our society. It is sometimes too early to start doing, but it is never too late to continue learning.
