May its value increase as the years pass. MR. DAVIS, Your self-sacrificing guidance and understanding have made our many experiences at Pine Plains more meaningful. Your influence will undoubtedly remain with us for many years. We hope only that the Dedi- cation of this yearbook to you can, in some part, signi- fy your supreme dedication to us. Dedication MR. PERRY, Since seventh grade you have been not only our teacher and advisor, but also our friend. Your awareness of each of us as an individual has been sincerely ap- preciated and your instruction and counsel have helped to prepare us for the problems we shall face in the years ahead. MRS. PERRY You have graciously and unselfishly helped us with many of our most difficult undertakings. You owed us nothing, yet have given us much. MR. TICKNOR As one of our class advisors you have been instrumental in the shaping of our high school careers. We sin- cerely thank you for your patience and guidance which has helped us through many difficult times. Special i. . Thanks MM • ✓ MRS. CARR Although it perhaps has not been apparent, we admire greatly your scientific de- termination and we appre- ciate your interest in our intellectual development. If any of us are successful in the field of science, it will be largely through your efforts. Administration Office Staff LEFT TO RIGHT: Mrs. Simmons. Secretary: Mr. Francis Stanton. Football 1964 Pine Plains Central was a busy place on August 25 when 43 boys turned out to prove to themselves and to their school that they had what it takes to play football. Under the ex- cellent leadership of our new football coach Mr. Haugh and his assistant, Mr. Foster, the Varsity started to stjape up. On September 26, the Bombers visited Haldane. After the Bombers took a 7-0 lead at half-time, they couldn't get started again and took a 12-7 defeat. Trying to bounce back after their opening defeat, the Bombers visited the overpowering cadets from Cardinal Farley. The locals held on against great odds and trailed by only twelve points at the end of the third quarter. The numerous squad cadets proved too much as the Bombers were finally worn down in the fourth quarter. Final score was CFMA 26-PPCS 0. A newspaper article that said, After two such defeats they couldn't bounce back, bothered everyone; as a result, the locals beat Red Hook 13-0. The Bombers lost the ser- vices of their fine fullback and co-captain Ken Meccariello in this game. The following week saw the Bombers' second win when P.P.C.S. beat Millbrook at the Blazers' field by a score of 7-0. This game was high-lighted by outstanding defensive play led by Dan Eckhardt and Mike Barton. Offensively, the passing combination of Sidoli to Eckhardt was unstoppable. October 24 was the day of the Big Game. Dover came to visit as heavy favorites. The game was 6-0, favor of Dover at the half. The locals' lone touchdown was set up by a beautiful 60 yard run by Tom Kelly, a terrific example of second-effort and desire. The extra point kick wasno good; this kick proved to be the difference between a tie for second and a tie with Haldane for the Championship. The final score was 6-6. October 31 was the date of the final game of the Bombers' 1964 Season and they meant to end it in a big way. The final score was P.P.C.S. 21-Pawling 6. The terrific running of Tom Kelly - 72 yds., Les Funk - 32 Yds., and Dan Eckhardt - 49 yds., would have been enough for Pawling; but the Bombers' under-rated halfback. Tommy Allen, stole the show by tearing apart the Pawling defense for 118 yds. The scoring was as follows: Allen, 1 T.D. Kelly. 1 T.D.; Funk. 1 T.D.; Eckhardt. 1P.A.T.; and Miller, 2P.A.T. The Bombers opened the season on December 1st by beating Webu- tuck by a score of 52 to 26. Ken Meccariello led the team with ten points. Next week saw.the Bombers visit Roe Jan and bring home a victory of 69 to 35. Simmons and Sidoli led the way with 21 and 23 points, respectively. The Bombers met Oakwood for our first defeat in the league with a 40 to 34 tally. Sim- mons was high with 13 points. Trying to come back from our loss in league play, the Bomb- ers took on visiting Red Hook and, after a very close game, came up with a 40 to 38 victory. Simmons and Sidoli led PPCS with 14 and 11 points respectively. The following week the locals dropped a close game to Rhinebeck after a very hard and well-played game by a score of 47 to 40. Kelly and Simmons led the boys with 12 points each. The Bombers came back after Christmas with a win over Webutuck and CFMA the first week. Miller with 14, Layton with 12. and Simmons with 11 points led the locals to a 53 to 48 win over Farley. The week of January 18th was bad for the locals as they lost two close games, first to Wappingers with a score of 53 to 49, then to Rhinebeck with a tally of 52 to 45. Simmons was high for both games with 16 and 19 points, respectively. The following week found our team at Arlington and at home for two games with that school. The local game went to us by one point - 45 to 44. The away game found Arling- ton on top - 41 to 32. Jim Layton provided the only bright light for the Bombers as they suffered a humiliating defeat by a 76 to 44 slide in Wappingers' favor. Jim had 20 points in the next game, and helped Pine Plains to a 42 to 19 victory in a defensive trump against Red Hook. Roe Jan was the unfortunate guest at Pine Plains as the locals won with a 53 to 27 score. Layton was top-scorer with 12 points. The Bombers then visited CFMA and brought home a 55 to 35 victory through an imper- vious defense and fine shooting by Layton, Simmons, and Sidoli. who scored 17, 14, and 16 points respectively. Junior Varsity Report Coach Ed Caswell's J.V. boys were superb this year and posted an 8 and 7 won - lost record. The local boys managed a tie for first place in the league play. They showed a lot of potential, as Rick Scheer, Davis and Curtis Simmons, and others supplied the scor- ing punch, and Vater, Scheer, and Steve Bogdanffy combined their talents to control the rebounds. Aiding these players was a very strong bench made up by Gary Morill, Steve and Mark Losee, Ronnie Lown, John Sorbo, and Dennis Enright, Pine Plains Opponent 48 Webutuck --- - -27 37 Roe-Jan --- --------------38 37 Oak wood - -- -- -- -- 60 47 Red Hook..................33 47 Rhine beck - -- -- -- --37 44 Webutuck - -- -- -- --29 53 C.F.M.A...................39 28 Wappingers --- ------ — 38 43 Rhine beck - -- -- -- --27 41 Arlington - — - -- -- - 42 48 Arlington -- - 62 31 Wappingers--------- 38 36 Red Hook - — - — - — 25 39 Roe-Jan --- - ---24 61 C.F.M.A...................66 Oak wood - -- -- - — - — Girls' Hockey Senior High FIRST ROW, left to right: S. As his experience grows, his knowledge and professional capabilities grow more and more specialized. As a person becomes more specialized in one field, he usually cannot change to another without starting at or near the bottom. So it is more important than ever that graduates take time to look around them to determine what their greatest talents and interests are. When you have done that, choose the field where your real interests and abilities lie, for that is the surest and fastest road to success and happiness. Though specialized, our world offers a wider range of opportunities than ever before. And there is in this modern world a place for each of us, a place where each can succeed and find happiness. It is up to each person to find his own place. The time to look is now.
