The kind lady who greeted us at the door was our teacher, Mrs. Lollie Williams. The other kind ladies who taught us Reading, Riting, and Rithmitic through the years were Mrs. Blanche Whitler, Mrs. Leah Campbell, Mrs. Lois Bailey, Mrs. Annie Beasley, and Mrs. Virginia Temple. Guiding us through the final stages of years filled to the brim with love, happiness and learning were Mrs. Mary Sullivan and Miss Georgia Morris. Climaxing our grammar school days was our Sth grade trip to Raleigh. Then one wonderful day in September 1955 we became Green Freshmen under the guiding hand of Mr. Bobby Stott. We had fun going to parties, ballgames, and just plain learning that year. Mrs. Cornelia Crocker led us through a busy year being Saucy Sophomores . This was the year we started taking our places as leaders in Pine Level High School. The Ice Capades was only one of the many things we did for recreation. As Jolly Juniors we were delighted to have again as our sponsor Mrs. Cornelia Crocker. We really worked hard that year presenting our play, Cupid in Pigtails. Another highlight of that year was ivin , as we termed it, The best Junior-Senior Bans uet ever , How's this for firsts? We were the first S S Ll P,L,H,S, class to take a course over television. We were charter members of the Beta Club and F,F,A, Club. And now having earned the title of Dignified Seniors , we are finally at the top. Mrs. Cornelia Crocker is again our friend and Counsellor. lt seemed a long way from the first to the twelfth, but we finally made it. Over the years our number has been added to and taken away from, and finally dwindled down to 27. This year has been crammed full of studies, sports, and activities such as Senior Day, our annual and giving our class play lt's Great to Be Crazy . Yes, our years have been full of everything we loved and now we are looking forward to the goal we have been striving for twelve years, Graduation. Hail to thce, our Alma Mater Always will we honor thee .... ll9l lair 'MN ww! jeafamenf I, l. W. Allen, have nothing, lcame with nothing and I um ltaving with nothing. I, Glenda Thornton, leave my skating ability to Faye Allen. I, lattice Wood, am just so happy to leave. M'0l9A6?Cy Boy, it's SURE cold. It leaves you cold too, thinking you are almost thirty years old in this year 1968. lt's so nice to be home again and going to old friends'. Well who is that walking along the road? lt's Freddy Hines, whose car has given out. He tells me he is full colonel in the Air Force now, and I can imagine him walking. Here we are driving up the drive of Jonesboro, the home of the former Kay Crocker. She doesn't have to teach now, she just does so for pure pleasure. We go inside and Kay greets us. With her is Betty Creech who is happily married to a minister. Just as we step inside we see someone creeping down the stairs. It's Douglas Phillips who is a F,B,I, agent. Just then a long black limousine pulls up outside and out steps Kester Kornegay, Joyce Brady, and Janice Wood. Kester is governor now and Joyce and Janice are his executive secre- taries. Right behind them is Joe Dupree, Pine Level's one and only pharmacist. llook out again on the drive and see two figures in white coming up the drive. Ghosts? No, it's Nellie and Joey Creech who are nurses now. I ask Nellie where Dickie is and she tells me as a teacher he sometimes has to stay after school rather late. A special plane has been chartered to bring in Gail Starling, Sarah Baker and Glenda Thornton in from Hollywood. Sarah and Gail have just finished their lates film, I Don't Like It. Oh, yes Glenda Thornton is their hairdresser. Mr. and Mrs. Donnie Braswell drive up. They must be doing well because they come in a cadillac with tail fins so high you would have to have a picture window to see what's on the other side. The Mrs. Braswell is the former Linda Cooper. Jean Creech and Sherwood Crumpler troop in with their spouses and of all things, their children. I do declare there are so many kids you can't count them. Just then a fanfare of trumpets sound and in walks Jimmy Baker. He's done rather well too. He married a rich old Countess with one foot in the grave and the other on a banana peel. Lynda Stallings tells us she is head of an office. Would you believe that office is Bill McArtan's Bricklaying Industries. In walks a scholarly gentleman, lt's our old friend Mark Rollin's himself and as a professor we have been hearing that he is making it rather hard for Pem Hawkins to graduate from State College. Jean Rackley walks in with a silver mink on one arm. Evidently teacher's salaries must have risen since our school days. With her is Martha Jones, Martha tells us she has a very nice job in Raleigh. Last to arrive is J,W, Allen. I.n our High School Last Will and Testament he said something about he had nothing and wanted nothing. This still seems to be his ambition. Yes, it is certainly nice to be in a group of prosperous people. And I, Jerry Ellis have come home at last. l 21 l 5 1, -VQA ' ' ,af , , 9 07, , ., 71 W, : 24 v gm, A . , PQ?
