STUD In 1951 our class entered Pine Level High School with Mr. Bobby Stott as our homeroom teacher. Then, we didn't realize the fun and pleasure that went along with that horrible name Green Freshmen. We stood by, envying the upper classmen and wishing we were in their place. That year several members of the class were on the ball teams and some became cheerleaders. Along with the work we enjoyed parties too, which helped to make that one of the happiest and most eventful years in our high school history. The next year we progressed one step higher and became known as Saucy Sophomores. This was the year when the class began to gain self-recognition. We had as our homeroom teacher, Mrs. Bruce Coats. Several of the tenth graders were chosen as waiters and waitresses for the Junior-Senior banquet that year. This was also a fun-filled and most enjoyable nine months. At last we became Jolly Juniors and there was only one year left before we reached our goal. Under the guidance of Miss Frances White, this proved to be a very successful year. There were two events which we re- member very distinctly-getting our class rings and sponsoring the Junior-Senior Banquet which took us into an old'fashioned garden for the evening. We also presented the Junior Play, Headin' For A Weddin! At last in 1954 our long awaited dream became a reality- Dignified Seniors. Although this was a very busy year, we never gave up. The parties, play practice, annual meetings and other senior activities under the direction of Mrs. Ben Parrish, will never fade from our memories. Now graduation is near at hand and tomorrow we will go our separate ways. We may come back to Pine Level High School to visit but, we will never return to the carefree days we have known there. CLASS IDD EC My it's good to be coming home again! No matter how small the town, it's nice to come home. I believe I'll ring for the airline hostess and see when we 'll land in Smithfield. There, here she comes, why, Ido be- lieve it's Mavie Jean Thompson--it is! Now I can talk over old times and find out what all our classmates are doing. We talk to each other while we are coming into the field and I learn that J.C. Jones and Raymond Bailey are piloting new supersonic airplanes for the U. S. Navy---Commanders no less! Bobby Thornton is still in the army and has become a Sergeant. Yesterday Paul Peedin was released from the Army with a dishonorable dis- charge for being A. W. O. L. at Raines Crossroads. Walton Crocker is continuing in the T. V. business and Frank Smith is driving a diesel truck and expects to own his own line soon. I ask about Will Crocker and Winky Walters and learn that they serve as Head Football Coach at Carolina and Basketball Coach at State. I ask, too, about Jack Coltrain and learn that he has become Liberace, Jr. I know, of course, that Janice Creech and Arnold White have been happily married all these years, for it's they l'm going to visit. We land and there at the airport to meet me are Janice and Sandra Kornegay, Shelva I-Iinnant, now Mrs. Bill Southernland, Dorothy King and Jean Evans who are all successful secretaries. We reach Janice's and there are Mattie Crumpler who is now happily married to Jack, Betty Stuckey, Janice Woodard fsister-in-law and working for the Braswell T. V. Firmj, and Betty 'Crocker who is contented staying at home as a housewife. Evelyn Eason, Faye Grice, now Mrs. Bill Kornegay, are both using art as their hobby. Nell Grice who is now employed in her beauty shop, Merle Woodard, living on the Gurley farm and learning to drive Carl's John Deere, and Patsy Thompson, who has a vacation from John Hopkins Hospital and are going to visit later. And, I, Elizabeth Strickland, of the Grand Ole Opry know that I have really come home.
