To plan your future- To establish your goals in life, because no one ever gets any- where unless he knows where he's going- To study your roads to these goals, because no one ever gets lost when he has a good map- To prepare yourself for your journey, because no one ever gets far unless he's got what it takes- To study, because no one ever becomes wise unless he tries- SO- LET'S GO! Marvin O. Werley Frank R. Winsheimer High School Principal Qscfoofyjrzkzcijoafs Qfessaye The fact that our Constitution gives to each of us the greatest freedom to make the most of his talents that mankind has ever possessed accounts in large degree for the strength of America. A member of the Oregon Supreme Court summed up in these few words the challenge that goes out to the youth of today to learn the laws of his land and to appreciate his heritage of freedom. Every man must learn to govern himself. Freedom honors law, not force. The roots of our liberty are in the law. It is not enough to be lawabidingg we must impress upon everyone the importance of 'all citizens being responsible and law- abiding. America needs you. Frank R. Some of them were brought together in the third grade and the others in the sixth grade at the High Street School. In the ninth grade our cast made their first field trip as a class to historic Gettysburg and our state capital at Harrisburg. The sophomore year brought many new experiences. The class was officially organized with officers, executive committee, and Mrs. Helen Mengel and Mr. Charles Wagner as advisors. A Western Record Hop, the first money-raising activity, was quite a success. The bright red and gray class jackets arrived just about the time the class was taking orders for Christmas candy. The first semi-formal dance, the Sopho- more Hop, was beautifully decorated in an Apri1 Showers theme. Before the school year was completed another money-making activity, a Coca-Cola Sale, was successfully completed. The gymnasium was packed for the Halloween Dances in both the eleventh and twelfth grades. Juniors diligently sold Easter candy and then worked even harder at selling merchandise certificates, their most successful venture. Their rewards were the fantastically lovely Christmas Dance, Snowflake Frolic , and the Junior Prom, Around the World with 63 . The 1961-62 year was a sad year for the class too, for they had to part with both of their faithful ad- visors, Mrs. Mengel and Mr. Wagner, but things brightened when Mrs. Ruth W. Christ and Mr. Calvin F. Morgan graciously consented to take over the responsibility during the senior year. In Fall and Winter of 1962, Seniors worked harder than ever on their projects, a magazine sale and an- other merchandise certificate sale. They made several field trips including a tour of the Cressona plant of the Aluminum Company of America, a visit to the polls on Election Day, and an educational tour of interest- ing spots in Pottsville. Their Class Play, Terror in the Suburbs was one of the most successful ever pre- sented at Pine Grove High. The Senior Ball with the theme, Voyage to the Bottom of the Sea was a fitting climax for the semi-formal dances sponsored by the class. Now, after completing their yearbook, the Seniors will look forward to their New York and Washington, D. C. trips, the Junior Prom in their honor, and to opportunities unlimited. 6633 yU0QI22 Pine Grove High we leave you, Each with saddened heart, Our high school days have ended, And time says we must part. Before us now unfold, So that we may advance to meet, New challenges untold I We ll cherish thoughts of teachers And friends as years go by, To our teachers we say thank you To all we say good-by . Should we become successful, As along life's road we rideg May the many things you've taught us, ai We'll attribute everything we've g To Pine Grove High with pride. ned Linda Bretzius' 6.688 C50I2y WE BID FAREWEIJL QTO the tune of SOUND OF MUSICJ Our high school days have come to an end, we know To those who have helped us, much gratitude we owe. We've had problems just along with the good things But at last we've reached our goal, Now we pause and we wait and we wonder What life will hold, if we will find success in life's goal. Refrain: The school is alive with the memories golden With things We'll hold dear for as long as we live. We pause and recall with our hearts beholden Of one thing we know we are positive- Every bit of our work was worthwhile and we just wish now That we'd realized this long before, That we'd tried a little harder and made a vow To concentrate a little bit more, But parties, proms, and hayrides were all a big part Of our days spent at Pine Grove High They help to complete thoughts pleasant that cause us to sigh. Where'er we may walk Be it smooth or stony These thoughts of our school In our hearts will dwell Our eyes well with tears both of joy and sadness As we bid farewell.
