CLASS HISTORY M As we march down the aisle to the strains of Hpomp and Circumstancef' we have many fond memories of the events we have enjoyed together. In our freshman year, students from adjoining districts joined us, making an enrollment of fifty-six. Class organization came with our sophomore year as we elected our class advisors and class officers. Our first activity was a soup and bake sale. Later in the year we held a hoedown called The Hop of Hearts, at which we crowned the King and Queen of Hearts. The highlight of our sophomore year was the Sophomore Hop, which was held in the early spring. ln our junior year we awaited Christmas with much anticipation because at this time our treasured class rings would arrive, We held a hoedown at which we raffled off turkeys. Rivalry grew between our class and the junior class of Tremont as we fought enthusiastically to win the newspaper contest. The wholehearted cooperation and diligent work of everyone enabled us to emerge victorious. With regret we said good-bye to our class advisor, Mr. Himmelberger, who left us to become a member of the faculty of West Read- ing High School. The crowning of the king and queen, Paul Gooey Lehman and Ethel Miller, was held in the oriental atmosphere of our junior Prom, called Tea for Two. This dance was the last event of a successful junior year. After three eventful years we finally reached our exalted position - we were seniors! This year we elected a new class advisor, Mr. Richard Smith. The first event of the year was our class play, Act Your Age, a comedy under the capable direction of Miss Garman. During our senior year we took an educational trip to Pottsville, where we saw many places of interest. On February 16, we held our last important dance. Valentines Day leaves us with many memories. Our final trip, one for which we labored since entering high school, found us enroute to Washington. Upon our return, we took leave of our classmates and teachers. Regretfully we depart from Pine Grove High School, where the good times we enjoyed together will soon be only a memory, Bravely we set out to face whatever the future holds for us, certain that the knowledge we gained in Pine Grove High School will aid us in all future endeavors. -ANNA MAE WENRICH and MAE KRAUSE. ,- 29 ,- CLASS WILL We, the students of the Senior Class of Nineteen Hundred Fifty-two of Pine Grove High School, knowing that we are about to make our departure and being, supposedly of sound mind and memory, do hereby make, publish, and declare this our Last Will and Testament for the purpose of bequeathing our memories, cares, woes, and responsibilities, plus our good times and high ideals to our friends, classmates, and teachers in the following form: ARTICLE I-To Our Alma Mater: Our best wishes for a bright and happy future. FERREBEE, RICHARD W. LONGSDERFF. CLASS PROPHECY M The era of gas lights, horseless carriages, Diamond Iim, and handle-bar mustaches has passed away. Ten eventful years have gone by since our memorable day of graduation. Ten years may not seem like such a long time, but to the Class of U 52, who have gathered in the high school auditorium for a class reunion, it brings back many happy memories that have been forgotten during the years. After the delicious turkey dinner we danced to the music of our own Andy Schucker and his orchestra, featuring Eva Daubert as vocalist. During inter- mission, the noted dramatist, Helen Gay Sheley, gave a few readings, Here and there young housewives such as lna Readinger Herring, Anna Mae Wenrich Dieter, Beatrice Ditzler Fry, and Betty Adams, the former Betty Stahl, who owns a beauty salon, were overheard talking about their children. Many of the young men, namely, Arnet Krammes, Robert Hummel, Eugene Hummel, and William Aungst, who are serving their country, couldn't be present. Richard Longsderff, looking quite handsome in his Navy uniform, managed to get a leave. Also serving their country as nurses, holding the rank of lieutenant, were Betty Miller, Shirley Stupp, and Trena Mars. Gther classmates serving in community hospitals were Myrle and Ruth Kramer, Naomi Loy, Vivian Wenrich, and Shirley Miller, as a nurse's aide, They were conversing with Dr, Peter Touchard about some new drugs. Dennis Aungst, Willard Zerbe, Charles Lengle, Guy Fessler, Ernest Reh- rer, and Dale Mclntyre were discussing their work as carpenters, welders, and bricklayers. With this group were well-to-do farmers, Landis Brown, Charles Keefer, Donald Lehr, and Eugene Stahl, Daniel Merrell, Albert Mitsky, who were completing courses in engineering. Arriving by plane from New York were Anna Lou Fisher, the famous con- cert singerg Iohn Goodman, an organist in one of New York's large churches: Iohn Fidler, the noted interior decorator, Phyllis Spittler, a model, and Iune Frantz, a well-known hair stylist. They were accompanied by Ianet Adams, an airline hostess. Also arriving by plane were Dolores Mendell, the distin- guished dress designer, with her private secretary, Lois Snyder, George Miller, a sports commentator, and Shirley Haas, who worked in Macy's department store. Other secretaries and accountants present at the reunion were Betty Readinger, Lorraine Hummel, Sara Moyer, and Mae Krause. Talking to these secretaries and accountants was Alice Ditzler, the English instructor at our own Pine Grove High School. We learned the following members of our class were working in the large department stores of New York: Ellen Doran, Mary Ellen Krammes, Arlene Kramer, lean Krause, Arlene Miller, and Iacqueline Schach. The reunion ended quite late with a prayer and benediction by the Rev. Stanley W. Ferrebee, -SHIRLEY STUPP and ANNA LOU FISHER. ,-31,-1 SNAPS Sleepy-Time Gals. 5. Our 8. Me and my dog. Those Sisters! When the sailors arrived to visit the girls -look out - complications are here! The play had every- thing-grass skirts, lady wrestlers, and even a hokum 'Awaken scene. JUNIOR PROM -58.1 MINUET The birthday of George Washington was commemorated at Pine Grove High School with an appropriate assembly program, reviving the memories of the historical-minded by a return to the Colonial days, when George and Martha Washington entertained in their home on the Potomac. The pageant enitled HA Day at the Home of George Washington was beautifully por- trayed by a group of students wearing the costumes of the eighteenth century. The scenes included guests of the state, prominent in oflicial office: servants of the household, and chil- dren loved by the kindly Washingtons. The pageant opened with scenes of the servants and their master preparing the home for the guests. Dancing by the children was one of the features of the next scene. The climax to the activities of a busy day was the ball held in nonor of the master of the house. ln a beautiful setting, brilliantly lighted and made very colorful by the spotlights, members of the senior class joined in a perfect exhibition of the Minuet. All of the participants were mem- bers of the Class of 1952 with the exception of the children taking part. The production was under the direction of Mrs. Bruce L. Christ, teacher of social studies. The dancing scenes were directed by Mrs. Lee Raybuck, local teacher of artistic dancing. The stage arrangement and decorations were done by lack Goodman, member of the class. The program was enjoyed by the assembly with an excellent applause of their approval. lt will possibly become an annual program to mark this important birth date of the First Pres- ident of our nation. rr- , 2 ' 2 DEDICATION This page is dedicated to COACH CARMINE PEPE Ten Years at Pine Grove High School League League Playoff and Position Exhibition District 1942-43 ... . . . 7-3 ........ 0-1 2nd ................. .. . . 6-2 1943-44 . . . , . . 6-4 ........ 2-0 3rd and Championship. . . . . 8-3 1944-45 . . . . . . 14-4 ........ 2-0 3rd and Championship. . . . . 3-2 1945-46 . . . . . . 17-l ........ 2-1 2nd and Championship.. . . . 5-0 1946-47 ... ... 16-2 ........ 2-1 lst . ................ . . . . . 5-0 1947-48 . . . . . . 14-4 ........ 2-0 2nd and Championship.. . . . 8-3 1948-49 . . . . . . 18-0 ........ 2-0 lst and Championship. . . . . 5-2 1949-50 . . . . . . 16-2 ........ 2-0 2nd and Championship.. . . . 5-1 1950-51 . . . . . . 17-1 ........ 2-0 lst and Championship. . . . . 5-2 1951-52 .. . 19-1 ,..,.... 2-0 lst and Championship ..... 2-3 . . .. .. 1-1 144-22 18-3 52-18 2-4 TOTALS. . . . . .216-47 In the ten glorious years Coach Pepe has been at the head of varsity bas- ketball at Pine Grove High School, his teams have Won eight championships and finished in first place four times.
