Mr. Hamilton decided to semi- retire, teaching only the photography classes and remaining as yearbook spon- sor. Mrs. Denton was hired for science classes. The volleyball team made area sports news with their conference title. For the first time in many years Pinckneyville sent a cross country runner, Jason Woodside, to state. October was filled with the Homecom- ing activities. Mardi Gras weekend was a success although dizzling rain fell most of the time. Betsy Mucha handed over her crown to Bianca Mohr as Mardi Gras Queen. In November, football changed to a round ball as the community fired up for another basketball season. A new Perry County jail began to be constructed. This was going up but an- other building was going down as the gar- ment factory burned. For those with food on their minds a new Hardee’s Express went up and opened on Main Street. One semester was completed and sneak previews of what the second semester had to offer provided the incentive needed for “tuning in” to the last half of this moving drama.
