Everything 's the same Lack in my little town. - . 3 aaa Freshman players were awarded class numerals at the 1977 Panther Football Banquet. The historic P. N. Hirsch building, which dates back to the turn of the century, was origi- nally used as a home talent opera house where area people performed. In the Twenties it became a dance hall with music furnished by a player piano, fol- lowed later by live music. As early as 1913, the high school used the building for commence- ment exercises up into the late Twenties. In this same period, the first moving picture to come to our town was shown at the Opera House. When the Jackie Cooper craze hit the U.S., a look-alike contest was held at the Opera House. The Pinckney- ville Post Office was located under the Opera House during this time, together with the P.N. Hirsch store which eventually enlarged and turned the Opera House into a warehouse area. 13

From 1930 to 1932 Harry Wilson was the first to serve the new and growing PCHS. In 1933, PCHS newcomer, Howard Ketring, became our principal until 1941. Our third principal, Roland Keene, was here for only one year when he retired to become a commander in the Navy in World War II. He was replaced by Clyde McDaniel until 1944. The 1944-45 year brought Har- ley Quillman to PCHS as our fifth principal. After Mr. Quill- man’s four years, Roland Keene returned to serve as principal from 1948 to 1957, followed by Loren Lemmon, who was here from the 1957-58 years until Ne or ee Pde eee . 1962.
