Almost at once the spare time of everyone was filled with the activities of the various organizations. September was the month for class elections and the annual Hi-Tri Tea. It was time for the band to practice marching for the football games. The GAA held weekly practices and sent girls to the Fall Play Day. During the month, the Chorus and French Club organized, and meetings were held by the FFA, FHA, and National Honor So¬ ciety. An FFA judging team was entered in the Sectional Land Use Contest. The Library staff and Office Aides did their best to make the school run efficiently. The Panther football team practiced hard all month and played well in sev¬ eral games. There were also JV and Freshmen games. The Cheerleaders, having been elected in the spring, led the Pep Club in backing the team. School opens - freshmen lost Fullback skirts left end. Initiation was held for the new French Club members. Seniors dressed up for their pictures. The Juniors had a successful paper drive. And various meetings were held throughout the fun-filled month of October. In November the Panthers’ 1966 football season ended with the Homecoming game against the Du- Ouoin Indians. Before the game, a bonfire and pep rally was held to boost the team’s spirit and to ini¬ tiate new Hi-Y members. On Saturday night the annual Homecoming Dance, sponsored by the Stu¬ dent Council, was held. At the dance the new Homecoming queen was crowned and her court pre¬ sented. Homecoming Bonfire.
