english Creativity and inspiration were basic principals of the English Department. As the year went by you could cover a variety of sub- jects from Shakespeare to the contemporary stories in Voice magazine. The only new teacher was Mrs. Tessmer who came from the Middle School. mrs. evans -- drama 1, mrs. dennis - english IV, 11, speech, english 10, creative writing, novels. yearbook. mr. mcconnell - english ll, Ill, michigan history, applied english.

mr. carpenter - govern- ment, american history. mr. hand - government, american history. mr. mantyck - world his- tory, michigan history inquiriesin sociology. mr. wilson - world geog- raphy, government. history This Year's History Depart- ment has gone through many changes. One was a new set of books entitled Problems in Amer- ican History. A second change was instead of having one class for the whole year, the students were allowed to pick two periods which interested them most. Each period was a semester course, The final change this year was the fact that Juniors were allowed to take Government. This year all of these changes worked for the betterment of the department. 32 ,.
