Paced by Jerry Huhman and Harold Newman and inspired by Coach Doug Ash, the harriers captured the first Pinckney Cross Country League Meet ever. Bob McCall and Dan Amburgy were also medal winners. The Pirates also raced to first in the Hudson invitational and finished a fine second in their own meet behind a high ranked Class B team. Jerry and Harold were voted together the MVP award while dashing Dave Perkins received most improved. With the loss of many top Se- niors, next year will begin a re- building program. But by far, the Pirates will not be counted out from anything. -

Plagued with two losses early in the season, the Pirates displayed superb effort and rebounded to win five straight. They ended with a fine 7-2 record, thus duplicating last years performance. Even though the Pirates fin- ished second in the league they proved that they were the best by routing the league leading Fow- lerville Gladiators by a score of 39 to 20. Coach Tom Wilson and Coach John Sturock displayed great coaching ability. - P 9 0 57 5 W . ixa
