Effort was everything for the Varsity Club this year. Led by Mr. Wilson, they demonstrated matu- rity, integrity, and most of all, sportsmanship. Freshman football concession stands were operated by the Var- sity Club and they also sold popcorn. its members included hard- working, young men and one woman. chess club Governed by Mr. Carpenter, the Chess Club did remarkably well this year. They conducted a ladder tournament for the entire year, and also sponsored the third annual P.H.S. Chess Cham- pionship Tournament inthe spring, Meetings were held every week and the attendance grew steadily throughout the year. A few stu- dents were sent to the USCF-rat- ed tournaments.
