Editorial What purpose is an editorial to serve in a yearbook? What am I supposed to say when it's all done? Despite the fact that l hate nostalgic sentiments, is this what an editorial consists ol? Am l required to recount all the frustrations, disappointments and exasperations? What of the surprise, joy and relief experi- enced when the mats are all finished and the 1971 Pirate Log becomes the pub- lishing company's headache. They must now try to make sense out of the bent, erased and sliced mats, groan over our grammatical and typographical errors and decode our chicken-scratching directions. The Hnished product finally appears and in a complete catatonic state you wonder if that beautifully bound lavender and white colossus is the same MESS you sent out three months ago. All kidding aside, being on the high school yearbook staff is an experience few will forget. l'm sure the whole staff enjoyed publishing a yearbook dedicated to the People of this school, in spite of seemingly overwhelming problems. At times tempers flared, mistakes were made, and the despair of ever making the deadlines was a common attitude. However, we made it, and we hope you like it! Joan G ardner Editor
