lsaac Backus was a Baptist minister of the eighteenth century who is well-known for his part in the religious freedom of the Baptists. To his faithful and untiring labors we owe much of our present civil liberty. lt is to Rev. Isaac Backus that the Baptists owe so much for the preservation of the interesting and important activities concerning their history during the colonial period. lf the Son therefore shall make you free, ye shall be free indeed. Seven years after the death of Ann I-Iasseltine Judson, Adoniram Judson and Sarah Boardman were united in marriage and began serving the Lord together on the mission field of Burma. Though constantly battling disease and illness, Sarah Boardman was faithful in remembering God's command chosen as the society song, Ye Are My Witnesses. ' The Boardmans have chosen turquoise and white as their society colors. Accordingly, they have chosen as their verse Colossians 4:52 Walking in Wisdom toward them that are without, redeeming the time. SoulWinning is the theme, denoting the wisdom of obedience to God's command. A small purple violet showing Christ's humility and the colors purple for His majesty, gold for His royalty and White for His purity are also symbolic of the Lord Jesus.
