The Bunyan Society is named after john Bunyan, author of one of the greatest and most Well-known books, Pilgrim's Progress. Bunyan was the epitome of his master's Words: In this World ye shall have tribulation. The result Was a prodigious amount of Writing, Which one cannot read Without sensing the power of the Holy Spirit which so animated the man. As their verse, the Bunyans have chosen ll Corinthians 415: For We preach not ourselves, but Christ jesus the Lord, and ourselves your servants for jesus' sake. The Bunyan's hymn is Give of Your Best to the Master. The William Carey Literary Society was so named in honor of William Carey, mis- sionary to India. Characteristic of their namesake, they have attempted great things for God, and expected great things from God. This is the Carey Motto. Carey, considered the first of modern -day missionaries, waited twelve years before he saw his first convert. He translated the Bible into over thirty Indian dialects. The Carey xgrse is Zechariah 416: Not by might. nor by power, but by my Spirit, saith the Lord of Hosts. Bratrud, outstanding Christian leader, devoted teacher of the Word of God, faithful friend of missions and missionaries, and a Wise counsellor. Presently she is a member of the Board of Trustees of Pillsbury College. The Doctorate in Humanities was conferred upon Mrs. Bratrud at the June, 1966, Commencement at the College. With Missions as their theme, the Bratruds have chosen for their verse John 2O:3l: Then said Jesus to them again, peace be unto you, as my Father hath sent me, even so send l you. So Send l You is the society hymn. The Bratruds' theme is shown in the symbol which is diamond- shaped with the four corners representing the World and a cross signifying the gospel message. Red and White colors are symbolic of the blood and purity of the Lord Jesus Christ.
