Class Histor I guess we were the same as all Freshmen when we entered high school in the fall of 1956. We were perhaps a little afraid and uncertain at first, but we soon forgot our fears and settled down under the guidance of the girls' sponsor, Miss Georgia Morris, and the boys' sponsor, Mr. William Webber. Most of us were initiated into the F.H.A. and the F.F.A. that year. Several of us played on the basketball and baseball teams. Also several of the girls became cheerleaders. As Sophomores we had become better adjusted with the help of our faculty We again had separate homerooms with Mr. Webber again as the boys' spon- sor and Miss Theresa Rabil as the girls' sponsor. We were looking forward to the next year which promised greater things in store for our class. In our Junior year we began looking for and thinking of ways of making money. With the wonderful help of our homeroom teacher, Miss Frances Woodard, we did several things to make money such as picking cotton, spon- soring a talent show, and presenting the Junior play, Hillbilly Courtship. Another thing that we enjoyed doing very much was sponsoring the Junior- Senior Banquet which was held at Ship 'N' Shore in Wilson. We were pleased with our prosperity and accomplishments during our Junior year. Now we are well on our wav in our Senior year. We can already look back and appreciate the help and guidance which our Principal, Mr. Russell, and the faculty have offered us throughout these years in high school. We are greatly indebted to all of these people. We cannot express our appreciation to Miss Virginia Barwick, our Senior sponsor, for her help and patience this year. We would also like to thank Miss Woodard and Mr. West for their assistance and supervision on the annual. Without them we could not have had one. In order to increase funds for our Washington trip, we have sold maga- zines, candy, and also sponsored a chicken stew supper with the help and co- operation of our parents. We are making plans for a Senior play. It won't be long now until that long awaited graduation day. We will always remem- ber good old P.H.S., but we will be striving for higher gains and greater benefits in our future. 21
