FACULTY SNAPS i I T H E BEARS Mr Fefzer has given Pikeville College a fine squad and has measured up to all expectations. James Brooks shows great promise in develop- ing into a great forward. Bill Mullins quite, un- assuming, steady, with his favorite two-hand jump shot has proved to be an asset to the team. Jack Wells is an aggressive player, good on offensive or defensive and has added much to the spirit of the Bears. Bob Estep another promising freshman who played with Oak Ridge, Tennessee last year is up and coming. Harold Hibbitts, with his fine spirit and height gives him ability as a tip off man and a good defen- sive player. Maurice Clark ' s knowledge of basketball has made him a valuable man to the coach. Bill Ray, a constant player with plenty of fight. James Conley, a hard fighter and a willing worker Harold Senter has a good hook shot and adept at guarding his man. Bur- nett Terry, a speedy, clever ball handler who has been dubbed Snake for his ability to weave in and out among opposing players. Larry Keath- ley, a guard, is the foremost defensive man on the team for his height and is good on driving in for crip shots. Joe Marinaro, a freshman who has good prospects for a guarding position next year. Claude Mills, a good guard has an effective hook shot. Noah Newsome, a guard who specializes on feints and driving in hard. Lev Wallace Friend has been named Cob by the Bears because of his good managing. Paul Shaw, not in picture, is scrappy, daring, a fighter, Paul has the stuff that it takes to get along. CHEERLEADERS Homer Baldridge is long and lanky which adds to his ability as a cheer leader. Betty Davis whose past experience as a cheer leader and her interest in the team makes her take to the floor and yell. Clay Sayers, without him, the arobatics would be incomplete. Mabel Hall has a pleasing personality and team spirit which has helped to make the Bears successful. It plans projects such as building walks, planting shrubs to beautify the landscape around the buildings, etc. Money for such projects is given to the Student Council by the school. One of its plans has been to publish pamphlets advertising the basketball games. This one has always paid for itself and usually had some money left over for other projects. This Student Council was appointed by school autho- rities and, as such, has turned out to be worth while. It represents well the Academy students and their ideas.
