Pikesville's Threshold To Other Lands Harmony and international flavor were brought to Pikes- ville Senior High by the two American Field Service stu- dents this past year. Milvia Pascenti from Chile spent her senior year with Ellen Farbman and her family while Martin lngebrand, a student from Sweden, lived with Henry How- ardfs family. Both these students made friends and had experiences that will never be forgotten. One of Pikesville's students, Margie Perlman, spent the year in lohannesburg, South Africa. Randi Land and Henry How- ard have also been chosen to experience life abroad. The AFS Club has been active this year increasing their treasury selling T-shirts, sweatshirts, bumper stickers, greeting cards, and candy to further subsidize foreign students. Pikesville's three finalists were selected not only on the basis of their test scores, but also on their high school aca- demic record, accomplishments, leadership qualities, and extracurricular activities. Each finalist will be considered for one of the 1,000 National Merit 51,000 Scholarships.
