The Panther netters extended their county winning streak to 94 matches and captured their ninth straight county title despite the fact that the team finished the sea- son with five fewer players than when they started, Led by captains Steve Kantor and Beth Sandler, the team's problems started with the sidelining of its number two girl, Amy Pumpian. Two other members were dis- charged from the team for cutting classes. But the big trou- bles came when number one girl Beth Sandler and number two boy Lee Ellis entered private tournaments, not know- ing that it would result in their disqualification from fur- ther county matches. Thusly handicapped, the Panthers were doubtful of their ability to beat a strong Towson challenge for the county championship.
