ln One ord - o Shooting The 1973-74 Panthers concluded their 5-15 regular sea- son record with a 77-50 loss to Edgewood which elimi- nated them from further playoff activity. Preseason expec- tations were high due to the experience exemplified in Seniors Rob Grossbart and Mark Greenberg, beginning their third year of Varsity play, the rebounding potential of Harold Rudo and Barry Greenberg, and the overall depth and speed of the team as a whole. Coach Sam Norman reflected upon his team's disappointing play by stating, I can tell you my team's problem in one word - no shoot- ing! The defense was exceptional but we lacked offensive power. Forward Rob Grossbart and Guard Dave Yarmosky expressed alternate reasons for the teamfs record including the lack of team organization and the ineffective use of personnel. ta ABOVE RIGHT: Co-captain Rob Grossbart views his jump shot taken seconds earlier. JV Holds First Till Finish The 1974 JV cagers attracted more attention than any other junior varsity sport has at Pikesville. Maintaining a first place standing until its last game, the team received a class A award but fell behind to Dundalk in the county championship. One member of the team attributed its suc- cess to the fact that they have been playing together as a team for so long. Coach Garland Brown is confident that many of this year's JV team members will play varsity next year and bring success to Pikesville's top vvinter sport. Keith Silverstein demonstrates the shooting ability that led the Panthers to victory. 132 junior varsity basketball Ricky Handelman drives for the layup Pikesville tops the tap.
