Renny, like most seniors found LR. required hours of study ond wos intrigued by science subjects. He showed his othletic obility while portici- poting on the swimming teom this yeor. When the pressures of school were on, Renny sometimes relaxed by cooking or by listening to music on the rodio-ci good com- mon interest shored with Lcirry who hos long been the school's chief drum enthusiost. Of course, thoughts often wondered bock to ltoly ond his porents ond four older broth- ers ond sisters. As mony other students tried to decide their futures ond vocotionol choices, Renny hoped to enter his fother's business. Baud Q mwLTaEem12 how Song and Dame The Band Spectacular and Talent Show allowed for production numbers by groups and The display of in- dividual talent. Larry Pottenger was featured during the Spectacular on a drum solo as were J. K. Stevens on trumpet and Harold Bannister on trombone. Gypsies, modern dance with a jazz beat and hoop- skirted waltzers were among the night's highlights. The Talent Show permitted Vicki Barth to perform an acrobatic skit. Toshiko Suzuki sang while dressed in her native Japanese costume. Bill Hetfleman gave a piano solo, Toni Good and Cindy Diller did a comedy sketch. Patty Alexander played her accordian while other groups added The popular folk music flavor as well. The maiorettes were to add routines in both shows. Even Herb Alpert's Tiiuana Brass sounds were heard. For the Spectacular disk iockey, Bob Morrison, a Pike patron, served as master of ceremonies. 20
