Track The l9h8 track season was a great success for the Pike Township cindermen. The team captured the Capital City Conference meet at the Deaf School track for the first time in the history of the school. Pike was led all year by the stellar performance of Calvin Potter, jump ace. The other leading scorers were Dwaine Bell, a freshman runner, Fred Shelton in the M10 yard dash, Bobby Cochran in the pole relay team, Joe Conarroe and George Wagle in the field events. Pike ed in the dashes by Frank Grundy and John Snyder. Tom Anderson, points in the pole vault and high jump contests. The track team this year has lost only one senior, Calvin Potter, so the Pike fans are expecting great things from the team of 'h9. lowhurdle and high mile and half mile vault and half mile was well represent- a freshman, scored Last year the freshmen had one meet, the Marion County meet, in which they placed second to Southport. The Th mas M. Reveal Library of Pike Township The library was organized in l9h2 through funds left to Pike Township for a library by Th mas M. Reveal, a former resident. At the present time the library serves the elementary school and the high school. To avoid conflict and overcrowding, grades l through 6 are assigned to the library according to schedule. The junior high and senior high school students are admitted during study periods by individual permits. Reference books, pamphlets, clippings and pictures as well as fiction are included in the o Commerce Department Our Commerce Department offers three subjects in which you may major. They are short- hand, typing and bookkeeping. They are all two year courses but bookkeeping. The Com erce Department publishes the school paper bi-weekly, examinations, report cards, circulars, play programs, entertainment programs, school notices for c mmunity projects and programs for various clubs and organizations.
