Troy Earl Friess June 18, 1970 — July 15, 1987 Troy belonged to the class of 1988. He was a very unique person. He was a varsity football player, a member of the track team, a member of Meds, and the founder of the Delta Explorers. He always had above average grades and was a very talented artist. But what most of us remember about Troy was his compassion and understanding to everyone, and he always knew how to cheer everyone up and was willing to help anyone. Troy will be missed but never forgotten, from the students and teachers here at Delta High School. On May 18, 1988, DHS held a memorial service for Troy Friess, which the students filed into the gym and the public was invited. Mr. McNamara welcomed everyone and the Del-Aires sang The National Anthem. Tributes were made by Mr. Lintermoot, football coach; Mr. Friess, faculty member; and Rev. Johnson, Lutheran Church. Rev. Johnson also mentioned the names of many other Deltans who passed away within the passed few years, including Mrs. Marilyn Welch, French teacher, and Joel Graber, student. Senior Class President, Karla Bell and Mr. McNamara read the plaque that is now in front of the tree dedicated to Troy, which is in the front of the school yard. The Del-Aires sang two numbers and Rev. Pontius gave the closing prayer. Joel Graber March 30, 1973 — April 24, 1988 Joel belonged to the class of 1991. He was very special to a lot of the students and faculty at DHS. He was an outstanding athlete in wrestling and cross-country. Joel was an average student, worked very hard, and was very outgoing. He was well liked because of his personality. He never put anyone down and was to everyon. Joel will also be missed, not only by his family, but also by everyone here at DHS. “Gone to a Better Place” He's gone from this troubled earth To a place of new birth. He's gone to a place of no troubles or doubts To a place we can only dream about. He’s left us behind In hopes we will find; This beautiful place called Heaven. — Troy Friess
