I ’’Four more months! Only one month to go people.” We leave in one week and we still don't know this song good enough! ” The long awaited trip seemed like it would never come. Finally though, February 26 rolled around. After raising the needed $3,000 the Del-Aires were ready for departure. Leaving on an overcast Saturday, the Del-Aires headed for sunny Orlando, Florida to compete in a national competition. On the way down the Bel-Aires performed approximately ten concerts at various churches and colleges. The Del-Aires stayed at many people's homes on the trip, meeting many people of different life styles. Finally reaching Orlando on Thursday, the Del-Aires checked into their hotel. Singing at Disney World on Friday and Sea World on Saturday, little time was left to enjoy the pool and gameroom. Returning from Sea World at 2:00 p.m., the Del-Aires quickly dressed for the competition at Southern Florida University. The guys adorned in their baby blue tuxedos, and the girls in their blue formals, gave what Miss Hopton considered their best performance ever. Many tears were shed upon learning they only received the bronze metal. It was quickly forgotten however as the group packed up and headed for home. Returning home Monday night, the Del-A.ires came home with countless memories to share with friends and relatives. Memories that will undoubtedly last a lifetime.

Several activities were held to keep up interest in school. Two of these activities were a penny tournament held during 5-A lunch, and the painting of signs to represent the 9 schools in the NBL. Once everyone was finished eating and the tables were cleared off, the commons became a battlefield. The battle was a game of skill and some amount of luck. The object of the game was to get one of three pennies into a goal within three shots. The deciding game was played on ’'Superbowl Friday between Dave Yeager and Tim Keller. Dave Yeager pulled out the victory to take the championship. Art class spent class time preparing signs to display in the gym. Once mounted on the wall, the gymnasium took on a new look. 1. Dave Yeager concentrates on the deciding shot of the game. 2. Tim Basich takes a long shot. 3. Art class placed great pride on their work. Shown is Sue Schmitz. 4. The spoils of victory! 5. The coming of spring and good weather brought Delta face to face with a crisis. BIG MAC ATTACK! With the arrival of the new McDonald’s on airport highway, the office witnessed the longest sign-out sheet in the history of Delta High School. Sarge Demaline suspected an epidemic. Quick to realize the symptoms, (growling stomaches, glazed eyes, and trembling hands), she immediately rolled into action. As a result the tables were turned; the student body witnessed one of the longest detention lists in the history of Delta High School. Was the epidemic ever cured? Those who know will never tell. 1. A classic case of Big Mac Attack. 2. ’’Sometimes we pack our bags and stay a while.” 3. Jackie Williams and Ben Demaline make a fake toward the cafeteria before sneaking out to their cars. ■1. Some students are half-honest. Rich Kigar scribbles down an excuse on the sign out sheet. 5. The attack hit the teachers as well as students. Mrs. Green grimaces in pain. 6. In the dead of winter Deb Taylor and Kim Walter hike out to the parking lot. 7. Shawn Kolby races into the lunchroom. 8. This misfortunate person couldn’t recognize the symptoms.
