I MEMORIA We, the class of 1956, set aside this page of our annual to the memory of Tom Decker, because Tom was a friendly and happy part of us, we feel that it is only fitting to pay him this small tribute. Tom, son of Mr. and Mrs. Frankliln Decker, was bom May 7, 1938, near Delta, Ohio. He received his first five years of education at Pattston, a small country school near his home. gln his fifth year he. had the leading part in the York Township School's operetta, Johnny Appleseed . The following three years he attended the new York Township School where he participated in basketball, baseball, track, band and boys' glee club. May 20, 1952, Tom graduated from the eighth grade at York and the following Sept- ember he enrolled as a freshman in Delta High School. He played trumpet in the high school band, was a member of FFA, was an escort for the 1952 football homecoming ceremonies, was the Freshman representative to the student council, and was an active member of our class. Tom was a member of the FFA Parliamentary Procedure team when he was a sopho- more. He also was in band and was on the honor roll. It was also in this year that Tom won a State Fair Award from the Firestone Company for his demonstration on conservation. Throughout his life Tom attemded and was a member of the Taylor Methodist Church. He was a very active member ancl contributed in many ways to the church activities. On March 3, 1954, Tom met his death at the early age of fifteen. His passing saddened all of our hearts. He had won our friendship and admiration through his friendliness and thoughtfulnew to and for the people around him and through his achievements both in and out of school. Although Tom is now gone, his memory is still with us, and will always be because of these things.
