Here we were, starting on a grand new adventure-on our own for three whole days! We wonder if the B. 81 O. has finally recovered from the effects of the Delta junior Class trip. The porter is probably still sweeping up pillow feathers. The hardier souls who were awake at 6:00 A. M. the next morning saw a beautiful view of the Potomac river, with the mountains in the distance. At last we were in Nllashington, the grand old city itself, and from the station we went on a preliminary tour of the Capital city, that included the F. B. I. building, the mint and the Smith- sonian Institution. At noon we were back at our hotel. Xllhen it seemed as if we would rather collapse on our beds, we left instead for George W'ashington's homestead, Mount Vernon. The following day's schedule included the Capitol building, and some even managed a glimpse through the Supreme Court building. VVe toured Annapolis Academy Qwheie all the handsome sailors arej, and spent the evening on a moonlight cruise on the Potomac. The last morning we were free to do whatever we wished. But it was a hard decision to make. There were so many things to seel However, almost everyone went to the XN'ashington Monument. Some even climbed to the top-all 52 flights of it! All things must end, however, and we had to bid 21 reluctant farewell, to Vlfashington. VVhen we hnally arrived home, after our first brief fling at independence, we were all very tired but very, very happy. C245
