The class of 1950, or the seniors this year, left for XVashington, D. C., on May 30. 19-19. at 7:05 p. m. from Toledo. They traveled via the B. 8: O. Railroad. There was hardly any sleeping done on the way to XVashington. Our chaperons were Mr. and Mrs. G. XY. Hilty. There were thirty-two of us in all. Wlhen we arrived in Wlashington at 8:15 a. in.. a bus was waiting to take us around Washington. Our bus driver, during the most of our trips through XVashington, was a fel- low by the name of 'loe Riggs. XYe saw the Capitol, the NN'hite House, and many other famous buildings which were on our schedule that we followed as closely as we could. XNed-- nesday night was our free night to see the sights of our Capital. On Thursday morning we could do anything we wanted to. Thursday afternoon, at 5 230 p. ni., we left for home. Most of us got a little bit of sleep that night. There were three boys t'Calvin Brehm, james Nofzinger and Everett Nevillej who got off the train at Fostoria at 5:30 a. m., to go on to Columbus. The rest of us arrived at Toledo at 7:30 a. m., where Mr. Meszaros met ns to bring us back to good old Delta Hi. 9 X ,4 xw, 'S 2 1 Senior Class Play Standing, Left to Right: Art VVhitaker, ,lim Nofzinger, Stanley Wolcott, Margaret Brat- ton, Carol Chamberlin, Elsie Keiser, Betsy Shelt, Carol LaSalle, Sue Segrist. Seated: Marcia Koester, Dean Keller, lJo 1111 a Fortney, Art VVelch, Mr. Klee. Not Pictured: David Beatty, Milton Hollinger. A dramatized version of the hit novel-'fNYe Shook the Family Tree - shook the auditorium of Delta Hi on April 21, 1950. The mirth-provoking play presented the problems of Hildegarde tCarol LaSallej and her family when she tried to get out of a fixed up date with Freddie tljean Kellerj, the only boy in town who wore knickers! But Mother QBetsy Sheltj and Father tDave Beattyj had no intention of ollending F'reddie's Mom tMarcia Koesterj and Dad Uim Nofzingerj, who happened to be the president of the bank. Sally QMargaret Brattonj, 1-lildegarde's kid sister, tried to help by making Hildegarde beautiful with beauty mud, but the brothers tArt XVelch and Arthur NYhitakerj only laughed at her attempts-they were more inter- ested in girls tSue Segrist and Donna Fortneyjl Even the little girl next door tElsie Keiserj made for confusion by mailing old love letters around the neighborhood. Everything ended well when Freddie succeeded in getting long pants but not until Hildegarde caused a series of family crises. The play was under the direction of Mr. Klee. They have served at many banquets and have worked hard at the concessions. The class rings for the Juniors arrived just a short time before Christmas, The juniors gave a delightful comedy, Brother Goose, which was a great success on November 18. Besides all this, they produced a very nice Junior- Senior Banquet. We have many reasons to be very proud of our hard working juniors. Good luck, Juniors. Mrs. Mack directed the play. She did a very excellent job and, to the satisfaction of all, the play was a great success. The story is more than an ordinary one. Jeff struggles to start a prac- tice in architecture and to keep order in a house beset by two lovesick teens, lYes and Carol, and a pre-teen football fanatic, Hyacinth. Lenore, heiress to a fortune, plans to ensnare jeff by discouraging his other client, Mrs. Trilnmer. But Hy and Peggy, the efficient housekeeper, upset l.enore's plans and saved the vday. Hy wins her football game, Wles gets his girl, Eve, Carol wins a prize in her contest, Jeff keeps Mrs. Trini- n1er's contract and Peggy captures jeff. Scouts Delta now has all three branches of scouting represented by its youth. Thg three groups are: the Cubs, the Boy Scouts and the Explorer Post. The Boy Scouts and the Explorer Post are sponsored by the Conununity Service Club, while the Rotary sponsors the Cubs. The ditterent scout groups are easily distinguishable from each other when they are in uniform. The Cubs wear blue and yelloxvg the Scouts, brown and red, the Explorers, green and brown. The Scout groups are very active in community activity. Last February they took over the village offices during Scout XYeek for one day. Delta can not be too proud of its youth, participating in Scouting. 137510 A 9551223 C2 if Student Council Ilmp Rmv: KClHlCill 'll.l'Clll1liIl, .lack Short, llun .'lxlllCl'lUIl, ,lim GIKCCII, l.u1'1'y Qfllmnlwl ccmul Row: Marlene TllL'liCl'1llllll, Daryl l3LT1'lllllll, Dave liczxlty, Hzlxcl l':Y1ll15, Mr. llillx Phi Beta Sigma lop Rmv: 'llnu McQuillin, Milton Hollinger, Dum Kcllcr, Dave liczntly, lliclc Klcck. FAREWELL It is really hard to say how we feel graduating from school. In some ways we are glad. We shall go along our own way, get our own job, perhaps some of us will get married and start our own families. As we look back Over our school days and all the fun we had. we are sorry we are leaving! VVe shall miss our old friends. even though we shall make new ones. The football and basketball games will not seem right without the kids we know that used to play. XVe shall even miss the teachers and our studies. Most of our classmates will leave and we shall wonder what happened to them. So when we are asked if we are glad we are graduating, we really can't say. 'We shall miss school, but we look forward to our new life ahead. This year's annual will grow dear to us as we look back over our happiest years and see our many friends. fr O .. .J -i 2-3 7' :. h-3 5752 f-f LT' ... vm F3 ..- n-J ... r-3 F4 ,- 'P ..
