Senior Class Play Front Row: Wayne McQuillin. Joan Williams. Elizabeth Soule. Sadie Njaim. Marie Hoffman. Virginia Trowbridge. Joy Lehman. Ruth Newill, Arlene Cooper. Second Row: Carl Bratton. Junior Shelt. Paul Valentine. Kermit Hatfield. Clifford Leu. Richard Falor. Glen Gamber. What a Life,” by Clifford Goldsmith, was presented by the Senior Class on the evening of May 9, 1941. The action of the play is centered around the mischievous Henry Aldrich of radio-fame, with the setting supplied by a time-scarred, slightly decadent school building. Henry’s many misdemeanors result in his being constantly reprimanded by his teachers and the principal. His activities are culminated by the accusation that he was responsible for the disappearance of the band instruments. Foreboding as this may sound, the story is delightfully humorous throughout, with a romantic element furnished by the assistant principal and the secretary. 24

Schoolmates for Twelre Years The Class of 1941 is proud of the ten students who have had twelve years of schooling together, at Delta. These people have stuck together for twelve years and all are still the best of friends. Now, as these ten people are about to step out into the world, we hope they will remember the rest of our class as good friends along with their classmates of twelve years. Seated: Arlene Cooper. Senior Scholarship Team Front Row: Dorothy Orndorff. Joan Williams. Arlene Cooper. Alice Favorite. Grace Eberly. Lucerne Redd. Second Row: Richard Falor. Virginia McGhee. Elizabeth Soule. Joy Lehman. Kermit Hatfield. Carl Bratton. Wayne McQuillin, Herbert Watkins. Two members of this scholarship team succeeded in capturing places in the higher bracket of the county, with Wayne McQuillin winning fourth place and Dorothy Orndorff receiving honorable mention. About a week after the time of the scholarship exam, thirty-three students engaged in a sixty-minutes’ battle with the county elimination tests. Seven were victorious and were thus eligible to participate in the district tests, which were held May 3. These seven were Wayne McQuillin, Donald Rowe, Merlin Baumgartner, Dorothy Orndorff, Robert Ross, Hal Hepler, and Donald Harmon. Still later, the twenty-sixth of April to be exact, seven commercial students journeyed to Fayette, where they competed in the county elimination tests relative to commercial subjects. Of this group Sadie Njaim and Alice Favorite qualified themselves to participate in the district examinations. 25
