-L DEL-HI1-- We had arrived at her home and were hilariously greeted by Jim and Art who had been, they told us, reminiscing and thinking of all the dear old Delta gang. V ' Well, said Stanley, Do tell us what every one is doing. And that started them off. James took Z1 long breath and told us this: i'Lenore Dewyer is a blonde now, And she married Kenneth Mohr, They are living very happily, And he works in Perl Schlagel's Ten Cent store. Florence Dodge is the world's typing champ, She writes a hundred words per sec, Lawrence Norris is a multi-millionaire, His only work is to sign a check. At this jimmy paused to take a breath and Art cut in, Well, I can't give it in a jingle, but here's the low-down on some more of the class. Hilliard Camp very diligently studied music and is now the private music instructor of Charles Lindbergh Junior. And Ethlyn Mizer, poor girl, you heard about her? Noi said Merlyn, breathless, What? Why, she married the Prince of Wales for his title and the week after the ceremony England became a republic and elected a president and now Ethlyn is in a convent, trying to forget her great disappointment. Then there is that new sensational newspaper that began circulating in New York recently- The Green Gazette. That is the work of Richard Green. Arthur then stopped for breath and Carolyn's maid brought in refreshments, all of which tasted very good but the crowning glory was the McQuillan Cocktail concocted, Carolyn told us, by Hazel McQuillan herself. After this reviving repast Arthur told us about an invention that seemed to Merlyn and Stanley most worth while. It was a school room clock, guaranteed to run fast during class periods without the teacher, the superintendent or principal suspecting a thing. This was the invention of Clyde and Floyd Raker. Many cheers. Marguerite Wagner discovered that she was the long lost niece of the famous Wagner who left her his entire fortune when he died and she now spends her time building homes for stray dogs. And of course you know about 'Pie' Deck becoming a famous orator and debater?', broke in Jimmy again. Oh yes, said Stan, and do you remember how he used to argue in American Literature class? -L DEL.:-11 1- Yes indeed, said Carolyn, and he is going to hold a debate with Clarence Darrow tomorrow night. Let's go. Capitall said Arthur, And maybe he can tell us about the rest of the class. The next evening, after a distinct victory over his opponent, Ellsworth Deck was surprised to find himself surrounded by his old Deltonian friends and after they had congratulated him he answered Carolyn's query thus: The old gang? Let's see. Glenn Dunbar is conducting the snappiest orchestra in the United States at the Brown Derby and he has several of the class with him. Arvah Tremain plays the piano, Ephraim Bixler the violin, and Richard George the saxophone. Florence Hines runs the exclusive Hines Dancing School and is an authority on the latest dance steps. Remember some of those old fashioned steps we used to labor thru? Charleston, Varsity Drag, Graf Sway and all the rest. Those were the good old days all right. Say, we sure have a lot to talk over. C'mon home with me and on the way I'll tell you something that will surprise you. After next week there will be a Mrs. 'Pie' Deck. Pie! What? When? Who? I didn't know! Never suspected! Tell us! All these startled exclamations caused 'Pie' to chuckle and he said, You would never guess. It is one of our old classmates-Celia Rychenerf' Congratulations! After receiving his friends' good wishes they arrived at his home and he told them about the rest of the class of 1931. Glen Reed has begun living like Thoreau and writing philosophy. Do you remember how he argued against a simple life like that when we studied Thoreau? And then Onalee Wiley has distinguished herself by being the first woman to imitate Byrd's expedition to the North Pole. She went in the new type of plane designed by Gordon Tompkins. Evelyn Norris married the Jewish ambassador whom she met through Lawrence. And Grace Meridew-she was so bashful and quiet-she is now married to Franklin Free who is the head of the Boy Scouts. And then last but not least is Howard Grey. He just won the heavy-weight championship and is assured of a brilliant career. That is the entire class and as we can't all get together once more let us sing Varsity with all the old-time fervor in honor of our Delta school days because every one of that class of '31 is a credit and honor to old D.
