-f DEL-HI 1- Like all vacations it went rapidly and we soon found ourselves back at school enrolled as Sophomores. We chose the following officers: Hilliard Camp, presidentg James Owen, secretary and treasurer. This was rather an uneventful year. Again came vacation and we departed with the happy realization that we were Juniors. After three months of splendid recreation we gladly returned to high school in September, 1929. As Juniors our deliberations were pre- sided over by Arthur Fish, president, Betty Koder, secretary and treasurer. During this year we were striving for three goals: flj We all desired to become Seniors at the end of the term. Q25 We wanted our Senior Prom to be the best yet. QB, Our class play Applesauce to be a great success. By the splendid leadership of Miss Hollinger and the rest of the faculty we attained all three goals. Our athletic record was good, being well represented in football, basketball, and track by boys and girls winning the Intramural Class Basketball trophy. In May we departed from school, each one realizing with a pang of regret that only one year remained for us to honor Delta High School with our presence. We determined to make it one to be remembered. Therefore, we returned in September, 1930, as dignified Seniors. Our directors were Floyd Ralcer, president and Florence Dodge, secretary and treasurer. Our Senior play, Second Childhood, was a great success. Miss Evans was our play director. Also, our annual appears to be the best published as yet. Fellow Classmen, we seemed to have chosen wisel , but, let us re- member that though we may all detour in many different irections through- out our careers, we will always be bound together by that mutual love for Dear Old Delta High School. It's not the gale but the set of the sail that determines the way we go. lPa.ge Twelvel

-fDEL-HI1- 014 Vision of Our Class in 1941 Now to read the evening paper, said Merlyn Ruple as he lit his pipe and stretched luxuriously before the fireplace in his neat bachelor apartment. He was now a prosperous young man who had successfully climbed from clerk to manager of the A. 66 P. chain stores. As he opened it to the sport page he gasped with surprise for there was Ellsworth Ohlinger's familiar grin and written below in large type were the words: Former Delta Grid Star Makes All-America Team . Gee, mused Merlyn, I wonder where all the rest of the class of '31 are and what they are doing? He turned to the front page and began to carefully look thru the news to see if there were any items about his former friends. On the second page he was rewarded with this article: New Methodist Church of Dallas, Texas, designed by Mildred Raker, and constructed by the Dinius Construction Company owned by Walter Dinius, will be opened this Sunday, June 30, 1941, and the pastor of this church will be the well-known missionary, Stanley Woodringf' This brought back memories of Stanley's Epworth League programs and Merlyn chuckled gleefully. A few pages further he read the announcement of the opening of the Scandals of 1941 featuring the lovable Carolyn Mattern whose singing would make a banana jealous when it came to appeal. Merlyn straightway decided to attend the show and, dashing to the street, hailed a taxi. Upon clambering in he found it to be driven by Stanley Huit. Why, hello, Stan old timer! Where is the Nash you used to travel in? Sh-h-h, warned Stan, Don't tell anyone but I'm writing a story and am doing this for atmospheref, When Merlyn announced his destination Stanley decided to accompany him and together they entered the theater. After the performance they met Carolyn at the door and asked her if she knew where any of the Delta '3 1-ers were as they were looking them up. Well, she told them, You are in luck. Come down to my house and you can probably find out about all of them as James Goddard and Arthur Fish promised to be there and as you probably remember they always knew what was happening at all times. While they were riding along she told them: You know Jimmy is famous now too. He writes all of Mickey Mouse's comedies for him and Arthur is the leading financier of the country. lPage Fourteenl
