:Y J-.- 616155 .yidforg Our Freshman class, with fifty-four members enrolled at Pigeon High School. We held our first class meeting on Sep- tember 13, 1950, and elected our new leaders as follows: President, Barbara Baileyg Vice President, Mary Frank: Secretary, Jean Oesch, Treasurer, Carol Youngg Student Council, Jim Rich- mondg Reporter, Don Swartzendruber, We had hardly settled down to this new way of life, when the Sophomores gave us a party, called, initiation. After all was said and done, I think we can say, we had a lot of fun that day, even though we were on the business end of those paddles! In the spring we had a party at Barbara Bailey's cottage. Can any- one reniember those sand urgters and wet feet that night? Our Fres man ad- visors were Mr. John Scott and Mrs. Dorothy Sting. Many thanks to them for getting us started in our new life. In our Sophomore year, we started with fifty-two members, guided by Mr. Don Mielike and Mrs. Reva Leipprandt as sponsors. Our class officers were as follows: President, Florence Diebel: Vice President, Mary Frankg Secretary, Carol Teuscherg Treasurer, Joyce McCormick: Reporter, Don Swartzend- ruberg Student Council, Arnold Buch- holz. In October our class introduced a new method of initiation, whereby, the Freshmen were ordered to dress u and put on an act, which we directed. Tglese acts were enjoyed by every one of the high school students in the form of an assembly. I think we, the Sopho- more Class, had as much fun with initiation this year as the Freshmen did. Our whole class looked forward to the next year with much anticipation, in as much as we would be starting on earn money for Senior Trip. In our Junior Year the size of our class dropped down to forty-two. At the beginning of the year we elected our class officers as fol ows: President, Arnold Buchholzg Vice President, Flor- ence Diebelg Secretary, Carol Youngg Treasurer, Jean Oeschg Reporter, Joyce McCormick: Student Council, Barbara Bailey. Again this year as our advisors we had, Mr. Don Mielike and Mrs. Reva Leipprandt. This ear we sold at basketball and football, games. Also we sold Sl, 384. worth of ma azines in our magazine sale. The high sellers for this project were Genevieve Schuette, Don Swartzendruber, and Don Kropp. The biggest and most unforgettable event of the year was our Junior Play, Head First, directed by Mrs. Arlie Wells. At last our Senior Year! Forty-one strong! Again this year we sold at the basketball and football ames. Durin the year we had a fish-Fr and a spagietti supper in the High School Cafeteria, with the help of our advisors, Mr. Orvin Yordy and Miss Jean Palm. Our Senior Play was much more successful than our Junior Play. The name of it was Off the Track, directed by Mrs. A.rlie Wells. Also in April we had a Bake Sale in Sturm's Garage. May lst, at five o'clock in the morning, we started on our Senior Trip. The first day we traveled to Bedford, Penn. On the followin day we left for Gettysbur and toured tge battlefield of the Civil Vfar. Then we went on to our Nations Capital, Wash- ington, D. C. We stayed in Washington for one very enjoyable day and then started for the Big City, New York. We went on many unforgettable tours in New York for two days and then started for home. We stopped at Corning, New York, at a big glass fac- tory and from there, we went to Nia ara Falls, Canada. We also stopped at tlgne Welland Canal for a while and then we were on our way home once more. We arrived in Pigeon about 9:45 p. m. , Saturday, May 8. I know we can and will all say, we had a very educational and enjoyable trip. May 14th was our Junior-Senior Ban- quet, given by the Junior Class. May 23rd was our Baccalaureate Services in the High School Auditorium and May 28th, was the turning point in the lives of each and every member of the graduating class of 1954, in as much as, it was our Commencement. csv, 'PY Sd ' .
