A Y Kifiwaiimifl Glass gfistory In September of 1944, thirteen scared little children sat in the first grade room. The only ones left of this original thirteen are: Ada Lamson, Robert Fenton, David Holden, Larry Cork, Carol Mann, and Elsie Strock. In the second grade we gained Donna Fink and Patty Wallace, but when we entered the third grade we found we had lost Patty. William Allen joined us in the third gre de. When we entered our fifth grade we found we had four new students waiting for usp Iames Speer, Patricia Grennan, David Beck, and Gaylord Millard. We only kept two, Iames and Gaylord In entering the sixth grade five new students joined us: Rachel and Arthur Upperman, Elizabeth Carpenter, Austin Georgia, and George Chapin. At the beginning of the seventh grade we were surprized to find nine new students there: Glem Gill, Russell Cork, Richard Eldred, Robert and Richard Savel, Richard Carpenter, Charles McTigue, Richard White and Theordore Burdick. Charles McTigue, Rachel and Arthur Upperman, Austin Georgia , Lila Wiser and Donald Welty left us that year. We quit wondering what would happen next when we went into the eighth grade. We found Ianice Milliorf, johnny Hewitt, Ronald Carter, Ronald and Thomas Skarling there that year. That was the first year that the eighth grade were considered to be a part of the High School. That year we lost: George Chapin, Robert Bisset, Richard Eldred, Glenn Gill, Richard and Robert Savel, and Theordore Burdick. In 1952 we entered our first year of high school. After all our worrying about freshman initiation, it turned out to be a lot of fun. That year we elected David Holden, President: Donna Fink, Vice-President: Elizabeth Carpenter, Secretary: and Russell Cork, Treasurer. At the end of the year most of the class enjoyed a trip to Nelson's Ledges. Iane Lewis, Ronald and Thomas Skarling, Iohnny Hewitt, and William Allen left us that year. In the sophomore year we elected: David Holden, President, Larry Cork, Vice-President: Elizabeth Carpenter, Secretary, and Robert Fenton, Treasurer. That year we lost Elizabeth and Richard Carpenter, and Richard White. In the second week of school we planned to hold the freshman initiation. We had a party for the high school only after the initiation, which -turned out to be a large success. As Iuniors we elected Gaylord Millard, President, Larry Cork, Vice-President, Donna Fink, Secretary: and Russell Cork, Treasurer. On May 13, we enjoyed putting on the play Arsenic and Old Lace . The junior-Senior Banquet was held at Britians Manor at Greenville, Pennsylvania on May 20. We gained Alice Kapalin while losing William Allen, Kenneth Dain, Gladys Lewis and Ronald Carter. This year we chose our officers quickly in order to get started on making money' for our Senior Trip to New York. They are as follows: Ada Lamson, President: Gaylord Millard, Vice-President: Alice Kapalin, Secretary: and Robert Fenton, Treasurer. The seniors enjoyed putting on the. play You're Telling Me . The club has had many successful bake sales and skating parties this year. Glass tmI'OpllQCy As we look into the Army Hospital Ward at Ashtabula we see Iim Speer lying in a bed. He is there as a result of a gunshot wound in his big toe. He received this wound while demonstrating the correct and safe use of a rifle to some Privates in the Army where lim is now a Lieutenant. Being thirsty he rang for a nurse to bring him water. To his surprise the nurse that brought him the water turned out to be his old classmate, Alice Kapalin. During their conversation of the good old days Jim found out that Alice was now Mrs. Ronald Skarlinski and the proud mother of twins. She then told Iim that Gaylord Millard is now married and after taking over his mothers farm has added on more cattle and about 100 acres of land. A Alice asked Iim if he knew where Larry Cork was and he told her that Butch is now out of the Army and working at the Reliance Electric Plant. Heiis still a bachelor and quite Aa play boy. Butch has now bought a 66 Chevrolet Convertible. They then decided to make a list of all their old classmates. They found that Ada Lampson is a school teacher in a private school in Virginia. She has bought her own home and also drives a 65 Plymouth. They found that David Holden after completing his four years at Kent State University has worked himself up to the position of assistant editor of the Ashtabula Star Beacon. Davis has married Janice Brown and they have one child. Russell Cork after completing his eight years in the Army Reserves has decided to make the Army his career with expectations of becoming a Captain in the near future. He is also married and he and his wife Pat, have two children. They learned that Donna Carpenter has now become the proud mother of her second set of twins. She seems to be doing a good job of being a good wife and mother since her marriage to Eugene Carpenter in 1955. They also learned that while Carol Mann was attending Missionary School she met a young minister whom she later married. They now have their own church in Reading, Pennsylvania. It took a lot of looking to find the other three members of the class as they were further from home. Elise Strock has finished her nurses training and is now a registered nurse at Mount Union Hospital in Cleveland. As yet Elise hasn't found the right man. Bob Penton after getting out of the Army married Faye Campbell. He then went to a trade school in Cleveland to learn about mechanics. Bob is now in Columbus where he is head mec.1- anic at Wagner Motors Inc. which has the largest car repair department in Ohio. Janice Million is now married to a nice young man and is a secretary for a large firm in Chicago. They own a beautiful home there and have five children. Instead of the usual varsity and reserve cheerleaders we all cheered as a group this season. Mrs. Carlson was our cheerleading advisor and we appreciated her help and guidance in our work. We were invited to attend the cheerleaders clinic at Edgewood High School. This clinic taught us new cheers, new motions, and how to cooperate with each other so we could cheer better together. We ELAINE HOUSEL also got ideas for our outfits at the clinic. BEVERLY CCY We all had fun cheering together and considered ourselves to be pretty lucky girls for having the opportunity to cheer for our swell basketball team. Joycz NELSON A1-ICE KAPAUN -RQSQIVQS FRONT ROW: David Bernardez, Russell Smegal, Iames Bissett, Barney Fenton. SECOND ROW: Richard Williams, David Marcy, Robert Rlchcreek, Perry Millard, Pat Holden. The basketball season of 55-56 was the most success- ful in the history of the sport at Pierpont. Much of the credit goes to Coach Robertson who took the material that he had and developed a good team. Everyone on the team was proud to be a part of it, and I believe the fans were proud to call the Cavaliers their team. The reserves showed promise of developing into a good team in the coming seasons. Their record was 7-9.
