THEME The characters Charlie Brown, Snoopy, Schroeder, Lucy and Pig Pen make up the group also known as The Peanuts Gang . Cartoonist Charles Schultz fills his strip with the comical situations of the group. He has brought about the famous happiness statement which illustrates the simple, uncomplicated joys of a child and what makes hi m happy. Happiness is defined as a feeling of satisfaction and pleasure, butit is really un- definable, for it can mean so many different things depending on a person ' s viewpoint. Happiness may come in any shape or form; be material or non-ma- terial. There is really no specific meaning of the word. The theme of the 1970-71 Echoes is that of happiness. Every person on the staff has done his best and put in a lot of extra time to produce an annual which we hope you, the student, will enjoy. We sincerely hope the Echoes will be a happiness to each and every one of you. I also wish to take this opportunity to express my appreciation to Mrs. Kaye- Smith, my advisor; Michelle May, the assistant editor; and to Kris Carr, the copy chief; without whose devoted help I would not have been able to finish this production of the annual. The Annual Staff worked very hard this year sharing rooms with the bookkeeping and typing classes which pre- vented the staff from working very much during the regular school day. Work sessions were then held on Mon- days after school with assignments being given on the preceding Thursdays during the last ten minutes of the second period. Old members having previous experience on the staff were assigned layouts with the new mem- bers and could provide help if problems arose. Much extra time and effort was put in by many members provid- ing for an all-in-all good production of this year ' s annual. 3
