I opened a gate to a world for me . It invited me- -Look, dream your dreams, see what COULD be. But ahead w ' as the path to knowledge and power filled with moments of joy and also, despair. Gateways are open if only we LOOK. Pause -- Cherjd Lenwell, Editor Enter the Gateway --to friendship working to make the prom just a little bit better than last year ' s stopping to help someone pick up the books he has dropped gossiping in the restroom and locker rooms cheering the boys on to victory or defeat eating cookies and punch left over from the Spring Concert - -to culture being received into National Honor Society beaming with pride when someone says, Isn ' t that a gorgeous painting? and knowing it ' s YOURS trying so hard at all those speech contests being selected good citizen or a girls ' or boys ' stater --to knowledge poring over books at exam time learning to accept disappointment when you weren ' t elected cheerleader or student council president winning a Times -Union V RSW award possessing within yourself Ideals to build on, but being mature enough to know tliat some of your ideals will merge with reality along the way A gate is a two-way door.
