THE SENIOR EDITORS, ADVISORS, AND STAFF PRESENT TO YOU THE... %G ECHOES SCHOOL, FOR US IS NOT JUST THE BRICK BUILDING, BUT IT IS THAT DAILY RIDE ON THE BUS OR WALK UP THE FRONT STEPS. . . IT IS LEAVING WITH A BROADER KNOWLEDGE OF THE FOUR FUNDAMENTALS OF LEADERSHIP, SERVICE, CHARACTER, AND SCHOLARSHIP... FOR SOME IT INVOLVES EAR- NEST STUDY. . . OTHERS REMEMBER THOSE MOMENTS OF DAYDREAMING... 2 SCHOOL IS ACTIVITIES AND SPORTS... CAREFREE WHIRLWINDS OF COLORFUL DANCES... IT ' S WORKING HARD FOR THAT SPELLING TROPHY • • • THE CHEERLEADERS... SCHOOL IS THE SENIORS AND ALL OF THEIR FUN THEY HAVE DURING THEIR LAST YEAR... OUR BASKETBALL QUEEN AND COURT... THE GAME... AND THE CHEERBLOCK. . . IT IS TRYING JUST A LITTLE HARDER TO LEARN IN THE CLASSROOM, TO GET ALONG WITH OTHERS IN THE HALLS, AND TO WIN OR LOSE GRACEFULLY ON THE GYM FLOOR. SCHOOL, FOR US IS THE MAIN INTEREST OF OUR TEENAGE YEARS. I am convinced that there will be some rough and rugged days ahead for each and every one of us. When those rough and rugged days come - as they are sure to --if you become afraid, scared or frightened, the odds are that you may be washed up, probably wiped out. However, I do hope that you will remember that if you meet these days with faith, enthusiasm, ambition, and resourcefulness, then 1 believe that every- thing is going to be all right, MR. R. V. REED, PRINCIPAL MRS. LOIS PORTER Mrs. Lois Porter is our school office secre- tary this year. We have enjoyed seeing her friendly face in the office. YONTZ SENIORS PRESIDENT DOUG GREGORY CLASS OFFICERS SECRETARY CAROL SUE TUTTLE VICE-PRESIDENT MIKE MINER This last year of our high school education has been a busy one, filled with fun, sports, club activities, and a lot of work. We spent much of our time trying to earn enough money to go on our long-awaited trip to Washing- ton. Remember the card sales and Jon Hoppus ' careful management of the concession ' s room and our after-game dances and our terrific football jerseys that Doug Gregory sold so many of with his wonderful sales pitch and those cake raffles we held during the half-time of the basketball games? Yes, we did a lot this year, and we were represented in nearly every organ- ization, sport, or club activity. Doug Gregory led our class. Bill Bailey led the Student Council, Carol Tuttle and Cheryl Rager led scholastically, and many of us led in the various clubs and activities. We are leaving P. H. S. , but we will remember the crowded halls, the long lunch line, the noon games, the fun, the students, the teachers, and, most of all, the knowledge we have gained here. The class of ' 66 is on its way, and we feel that Pierceton High School has prepared us well. TREASURER CHERYL ANN RAGER STUDENT COUNCIL PRESIDENT BILL BAILEY 10 SHARON MARIE REGENOS JON A. Quite a few juniors participated in the Jr. -Sr. Play, and others took part in many clubs and athletic events this year. Our active class sold Rex , a soap, as their money making project for the year. There were many happy, thrilling, ex- citing, and even sad incidents that happened this year of 1966 that many of us will never forget. Pizza, potato chips, and cokes were served. Everyone enjoyed themselves im- mensely. We are looking forward to or- dering our class rings, and next year we will be upperclassmen--at last. Everyone thought it was so funny when we found out that Mr. Wett- schurack had to get a tetanus shot. It seems he got scratched up a bit in the pool splashing around. Sandy Mitchell was our queen attendant with Tom Barker as her escort. Several boys from our class played on the Jr. High basketball team which won the County Tourney. We really enjoyed having Mrs. Kaye- Smith and Mr. Wettschurack as our sponsors. They came on strong at the year ' s end, winning 3 of their last 4 games. In fact for the entire season they outscored their opponents 915 to 909, losing seven of their games by a TOTAL of 13 pts . , including two overtimes. As they learn to redistribute just a few of these points, they should become a good varsity team. They also hit 64% of their free throws, an outstanding mark for a B-team. After losing four of its top seven runners by graduation, this year ' s cross country team came back with one of the most impressive records ever made by a Pierceton High School team. Led by returning letertmen Mike Miner, Doug Gregory, and Dana Cone, the Cubs again set a record low score for the county meet by scoring twenty-four points. They then pro- ceeded to wrap up their season by winning the sectional meet at White ' s In- stitute and winning the first 1. H. S. A. A. trophy ever received by a P. H. S. team. It was truly a remarkable season for the cubs. Although we are losing three of our seniors, Doug, Mike, and Art, this year, we hope to come back with another winning team next year.
