PRINCIPAL SECRETARY “I can truthfully say that I have en- joyed working with the students and faculty of Pierceton High School very much.” ‘‘I’d like to say thank-you to every- one for making this a pleasant year for me.” Mrs. Lois Porter “Each year our student body grows in numbers and in achievements. Each year school becomes more difficult because of steadily grow- ing problems of space, equipment, scheduling, and providing more teachers. However, a con- tinuous effort is being made to enrich and broaden our curricular offerings and to add to and broaden our activity program in order to meet the needs of all students. Each year excellent overall co- operation from faculty, students, and patrons have made this possible. You can get almost everything accomplished if you don’t care who gets the credit.” Mr. R. V. Reed Waiting for a ring? What- -more money! The senior class of 1965 held many proj- ects this past year in striving to gain their trip to Washington, D.C. The class started its fund raising activities with a Christmas card sale . They made a good profit from the card sales. They had cake raffles at basket- ball games, worked the concessions rooms at all games, and sponsored numerous dances after the game. They made a success of their bake sale and rummage sale. They also held a successful car wash. Their next project was to sell Pierceton High School sweatshirts. This was one of the more successful projects con- sidering the time and work involved. The last project was the Chicken Barbeque . They es- pecially enjoyed working for this one since it was their last. Winning Times -Union WRSW awards were Jayne Ashley in social studies and Herb Wol- ter in science. This was Jayne ' s second year to win such an award. Another senior. Garth Cone, was the first athlete from Pierceton to graduate with 16 major athletic letters to his credit. Not only was the senior class a hard working one, but it was well represented in all areas of school activities. JUNIOR CLASS We made it --upper classmen at last! We were beginning to wonder if it would ever happen, but it has, and this magical year has gone all too fast! The junior class of 1965 has many memories to look back on --the day our class rings arrived when we strutted up and down the halls broke, but happy, the Junior-Senior Play, and the many hours of rehearsing, the night Cheryl Rager was crowned Basketball Queen, the class party at Huntington (that was one time the bus wasn ' t crowded), and many more events. The junior class was well represented in nearly all the clubs, or- ganizations, and athletic teams of our school. We ' ll always remember our junior year as one of the most challenging and fun -filled of all our high school years. CLASS OFFICERS --STANDING: D. Gregory, Pres.; M. Miner, V. Pres. SEATED: C. SOPHOMORE CLASS The Sophomore Class started the year by selling magazines, making a profit of over five hundred dollars. The highest salesman was Becky Evans, who sold $150.00 worth of sub- scriptions. We elected Jean Rhinehart our Sopho- more Queen Attendant. We also had three cheerleaders chosen from our class for the 1964- 65 Basketball Season. They were: Becky Evans, Jean Rhinehart, and Karen Ringgenberg. The big event of the year was ordering our class rings. We were also very proud to have as our Sponsors, Miss Adler and Mr. Forsberg. This year ' s junior and senior classes presented Thornton Wilder ' s American classic, Our Town , on Oct. 20 and 21 under the direction of Mrs. Boley. This was the first year that we have presented the play on two nights, and the charac- ters were portrayed by a double cast. Richard Stickney played the part of the stage manager; Cheryl Rager and Laura Stick- ler, Emily; Doug Gregory, George Gibbs; Scott Hanley, Dr. Gibbs; Barb Boggs and Kay Howell, Mrs. Gibbs; Dick Wells, Mr. Webb; and Jayne Ashley and Tamra Menzie, Mrs. Webb. This play brought to the audience both the joy and pathos of small town life, as seen through the lives --and a death- -of the Webb and Gibbs families. The Library Club met for a short class every Tuesday morning during Activity Period. We had one meeting a month after school to work on books, make catalog slips, etc. Our fall picnic, the Christ- mas party, and our spring outing are perhaps the highlights of our 1964-1965 Library Club year. Our work in the library is something we will never forget and perhaps we can even use the experience gained in our future when we must choose a field to study in college or acquire a job.
