DEDICATION She was my favorite teacher, say many students when they are asked what they remember about Mrs. Nichols. She was Miss Mary Bryant when she taught me in the fourth grade, said one senior, and she had taught that grade for many years; enough so that she had taught my father in his fourth grade year. He had great respect for her and he passed that respect down to me. Others said things like; Because I liked her, I studied hard that year , or I remember Mrs. Nichols because she was kind, and for the first time since we had started school, we were treated rather grown-up . Students tell of her gentle but strict authority and of how she instilled in them the importance of honesty and respect. Of all the memories that will linger over the years when those of basketball games and of dances and even the faces of friends have faded, the memory of one fourth grade teacher, Mrs. Mary Nichols, endeared to many Pierceton students, will remain.

PRINCIPAL Moments to remember are taken from many and varied situations -the excitement of an impor- tant ball game, the thrill of a stirring band march, the dignity of familiar faces in sober caps and gown. But of all the passing memories, no one for long a student here could forget the familiar figure of our principal, Mr. Stouffer. He stands out above all the things of passing importance to symbolize the real meaning of our life at school- -lessons first, but fun important too; dignity and respect for what you represent as a student of Pierceton High School, but always a sense of humor and the ability to appreciate the lighter side of a situation; tolerance for each other regardless of our many differences; and always fairness, honesty, and respect for the high purposes of education.
