SENIORS OFFICERS Joan Mettler . . . .TREASURER J im Werstler . . . . . PRESIDENT Mark Crain . . . . . VICE-PRESIDENT Mary Kilgore . . . . SECRETARY The honor of the conquest is rated by the difficulty. This is the motto ofthe senior class of 1959. Early in September the '59-ers elected class officers to lead them through their last 9 months of study. Elected were those seniors pictured above. Virginia Manuel and Max Spann served as senior Stu- dent Council representatives. Not being a very rich class in the fall of '58, the seniors worked hard to earn funds for the senior trip in the spring of 1959. Along with the work of play practice, scrap drives, cleaning up after record hops, the senior class also had many enjoyable and unforgettable times. Three Blind Mice was presented on October 17 with Mrs. Elizabeth Kaye-Smith directing. Robert's Studio took the senior pictures. The girls wore sweaters and skirts and the boys wore suits for the sittings. A large composite picture of the seniors and teachers was added to the others in the main hall. Besides the class play, three other money-making projects were sponsored by the seniors. Among these were a sock hop after the Warsaw game on December 55 WOWO record hop on March 6, and a scrap drive with the F.F.A. on April 9. May 10 -- that long-awaited day of the start of the senior trip--finally arrived, and the anxious seniors boarded the train for a journey which would take them to Washington, D. C., New York, and many hours of sight-seeing, shopping, and spending money. Baccaulaurate was held May 17 with Rev. O. S. Crain presenting the address. Dr. Charles Henry of Purdue University delivered the address at the Commencement exercises on May 21. After the address by Dr. Henry and the Valedictory and Salutatory by Diane Gebert and Virginia Manuel, respectively, Miss Yontz presented the class of 1959 to Mr. Stouffer for graduation. Upon receiving their diplomas, the seniors realized that their Commencement was not the end--but only the beginning for the class of 1959.
