This victory brought pride once again to the Bears who had been shut out by the Yellow Jackets in 1975 and 1976. The season showed the Bears winning four games and losing five. The success of this years team cannot be measured in victories but can be measured in attitude. Our season started with thirty-three players out for the team and finished with thirty. This statistic definitely shows that the 1977 Bears were not quitters, and on the whole the year was a good one. We are glad to have been able to cheer our Mighty Bears on to victory. The 1977 Worsley-O ' Rourkes contest awas held in our own Pierce gymnasium, Even though our squads didn ' t take the awards, their hearts were filled with that good ole Pierce High Spirit. This year the girls attended the I). S. A. Cheer Song and Mascot camp held in Santa Cruz. The squad, once again won the spirit stick; ribbons were also among the honors re- ceived at camp. We certainly can ' t forget our Pierce Bear Mascot; Penny always had her way with keeping up the spirit and pride of the Bears. This year a new name was given to her- The girl with the tail. We, the 1977-78 Pep Squad would like to thank the student body and our advisor for all the help they have given us. Without you alot of our school spirit wouldn ' t be possible. We will never forget this exciting year. It was a pleasure being able to cheer on our Bears. We are very proud of them, and always will be. Next year we hope that the pep squad will go at it with as much enthusiasm as we did to keep promoting the spirit of Pierce High. 56 Pep Squad nBKS r Br ' HE B ' 1 f S g r It b M ' 1? fcii 1 Bear Spirit Stands Out Working hours on end to perfect their routines, this years pep squad proved to be full of spirit.
