We, the Senior Class of Piedmont High School, inxthis year of 1957 to 1958, being in good health and of sound mind, realizing the uncertainty of grades and the vacillating disposition of our faculty members, do hereby make this, our last will and testament. I, Bruce Richards, will to Mike Bowman the Brooklyn Bridge. I Nell Toney, will all my problems to the biggest American Problem, my American Problems teacher, Mr. Charles Estep. I, Joanne Lovelace, will my title as most courteous to Treva Jones. I, Steve Cooke, will my ability to play basketball to Goose Tatum. I, Joan Sweezy, will my title as friendliest to Lura Thackerson. I Cat Blanton, will my ability to shoot original wise cracks to teachers to Hoyte Cline Jr. I, Nancy Costner, will my position as Co-Captain of the basketball team to someone who loves basketball as much as I do, and to Diana Brackett I will my eye guard to protect her beauti- ful eyes. I, Jerry Towery, will my left-handed typewriter to Gooby McMurry. I, Faye Spangler, will my love for basketball to Jackie and Theresa Spangler. And my school bus to anyone who can get it to school before ten o'clock. I, Wendell Canipe, will the First Broad River to Steve Morrison, hoping he can stay out of it. I Brenda Earwood, will my alto voice to the Piedmont High Glee Club, and position as captain of the basketball teafh to anyone as lucky as I was. I, Randy Mull, will be glad to get out of this place! I, Peg Bridges, will nothing because I have nothing. I, Steve Eskridge, will my ability to stick to one girl to Jerry Miller, hoping he will put it to practice. I, Gene Blackburn, will to Charles Willis my courtin' place at the water cooler. I, Gene Southard, will my Double Shoals hump to Hoyte Cline and my flying license to Carlo Eaker. I, Etta Smith, will my place in front of the bathroom mirror to Joan Weathers hoping she is tall enough to see in it. And the White Ear Bobs I inherited from Peggy Peeler to the next basketball manager. I, Connie Carpenter, will my excuses for being late to whoever needs them the most, and also my place beside of Etta in front of the mirror to Rebecca Putnam. I, Patricia Smawley, will my ability to stick to one man for three and a half years to Linda Lee and my blue eyes to Jane Sisk. We have written all the members of our class and because most of them asked about you, we decided to let you know that the frm-loving class of '58 has not changed much! Mrs. Johnson, you'll never believe it, but Gene Southard is a traffic patrolman! He's a very lenient one because he remembers April 13 and the Double Shoals Hump! Connie Carpenter just whizzed by in her little red MG. Mink seat covers too! Sure hope she doesn't get caught by Gene! Guess we won't be seeing much of Steve Cooke and his wife for awhile. He is on a murder case for the F.B.I. which led him to Mexico. Faye Spangler and Jerry Towery are still having little arguments but now it's family arguments! Faye is head of the athletics department at High Point College and Jerry has taken over the Howard Johnson's chain of restaurants. Joanne Lovelace didn't may far from home to find happiness. She is married to a store manager and has three kids. She and her husband reside in Forest City, North Carolina. Joan Sweezy is a famous hat designer in Chicago. For the latest styles, you should go to Sweezy's Hat Shopp. Joan's husband is a successful contractor. Nancy Costner and Brenda Earwood are still the very best of friends. They are secretaries for a doctor and a lawyerg the men of their dreams. If your husband is interested in football, he might be interested in knowing that Wendell Canipe is now the coach of the Washington Redskins! He is married and has three kids. You know Nell Toney always wanted to be an airline hostess? Well, she finally got her wish! She also married a jet pilot! Peggy Bridges is now married and is a private secretary at the Pittsburgh Plate Glass Company. We just couldn't believe this, but Bruce Turk Richards is a noted zoologist! It's the TRUTH! ln two weeks he is going to lead an expedition, on camels, through the Sahara Desert. flu search of a gnatlj Steve Eskridge still has a great love for basketball as he is the basketball coach at Duke University. He and his wife and child live near the campus. Jimmy Blanton, not to be outdone by Bruce, has finally accomplished his goal: He's joined the W.A.C. ! I guess Gene Blackburn is a little like you. He's giving the West Point Cadets quite a rough time! Gene is teaching mathematics. Oh, last but not least, don't forget to turn your TV set to station XYZ at 8:00 P.M. tonight to see Randy Mu1l's hour TV comedy show-- The Mull-It Hour. We are all fans of his. Here's hoping we see you at the next class reunion! Yours truly, Etta and Tish P. S. Thanks for the help in correcting the grammar in my high school teen correspondence column. The assist- ance has been useful since 1 now have a column in the New York Times. Tish P. S. Mrs. Johnson, the practice I got scribbling on the desks in homeroom surely paid off for I have several paintings on exhibit in the National Art Gallery in Washington, D. C.
