From These records we gaTher The hisTory oT The beginning oT The many PiedmonT insTiTuTions oT Today. From The meager beginning in a deserTed amusemenT parlc building has B IH, grown our modern well- U' mgs equipped campus. The main high school building, erecTed in l922, was Tollowed by The shaclcs in T925 and The iunior high building in I926. GreaT inTeresT was creaTed by The insTall- aTion oT a Magnavox, a sysTem by which all class rooms can be addressed aT one Time, and which was among The TirsT ever used in a school building. OTher impor- TanT improvemenTs included The caTeTeria in I923, The library in I924, Girls' Club Room in l925, and The Dean oT Boys' OTTice in l93O. The Tinal uniT oT The group, a new wing To replace The shacks, is rapidly nearing compleTion aT The pre- senT Time. PiedmonT l-ligh School owes a deep debT oT graTiTude To Those men and Adminimafion women who Tirelessly la- bored Tor The bond issue To Tinance The school, and who esTablished The principles which govern us Today. NoTable among Them are The members oT The TirsT Board oT EducaTion, The la+e Dr. l-l. D. Bell, lvlr. WalTer Brann, and Mrs. l-larrieT A. l-laas, and our TirsT sup- erinTendenT oT schools, The laTe Mr. Wil- liam John Cooper. FiTTeen years ago, Mr. l-larry W. Jones became superinTen- denT, and since ThaT Time he has been The guiding Torce in PiedmonT's policies. ln graTeTul appreciaTion, This issue oT The Clan-O-Log commemoraTes his TiTTeen years oT TaiThTul service. The TaculTy, Too, has had an ouTsTanding inTluence upon The developmenT oT our school, and Their loyalTy has meanT much To The school. The organ ll924l was parTially a giTT oT Pied- monT ciTizens, The remainder being paid Tor by sTudenT body Tunds. The arT col- lecTion ll93Ol has been enlarged Through The years, boTh by giTTs and by sTudenT purchases, unTil iT is now considered one oT The TinesT high school collecTions in exisTence.
