. . . memories MOUNT YONAH Yonali Mountain, oft I ponder As my thoughtful glances wander O ' er the splendor of thy might. Whether hidden truth or seeming, Granite fact or fancys ' dreaming; Shows thy meaning ' s truest light. Was it merely accidental That in chaos elemental Thou wert molded there in rock? rt thou hut a ledge upstanding, All the lower slopes commanding, Yet art hut a senseless block? Nay! I would invest thy story With a greater worth and glory. Born of all I feel ami see In thy wrinkles, wisdom laden Thy remoteness, well-nigh maiden. These and more are real to me. Thou dost stand a very token Of the might of God, unbroken Tho the solid earth must yield; May we. also, stand assoundly WOrking, trusting God profoundly, Boundless force for Right to wield. Yonah Mountain, now-as-ever β Brooding, hack of our endeavor. We shall gladly take thy name; Only keep for Piedmont ' s fellows All the hidden sense that mellows Thee, and aid each righteous aim. Memories are roses in the rain. ' So run the words of a song popular a generation ago. We think of memories, however, as of real value at all times. Happy memories are roses not only in the rain, hut in the sunshine. They brighten all our days. This Yonahian will be for you a book of memories. I trust that to you they will be memories of happy, useful days. I hope that they will be memories of intellectual and spiritual progress, of work and play and worship, of associa- tion with friendly students and friendly men and women of the faculty. May this book always be to you a reminder of the golden days of youth, of days well spent on the Piedmont campus. When many years have fled and the fires of ambition have burned low, may the pages of this, the Piedmont Yonahian. help you to relive the days when life was like a story holding neither sob nor sigh, in the olden, golden glory of the days gone by. 1:; Commons Hall A view of Lake Demorest WLm I MISS YONAHIAN miss M,i; m;i!s Cornelia.
