The silence of eternity was broken as God issued forth the decree, “Let there be light.” Since that first declaration, light has played a significant role in God's ongoing drama of redemption. In the Old Testament the writers constantly equated light with God and with God's goodness, truthfulness and righ- teousness. As the New Testament authors penned their books, light appeared throughout their writings, directly related to God and God's Son. However, a new concept dawned as light was now associated with God's people. Those individuals who have trusted Jesus Christ as per- sonal Savior are characterized as having been transformed from the darkness to the light. Believers are commanded not only to “walk in the light” but also “to shine as lights in the world.” FANAL — “light” A beam which radiates from a lighthouse or lamp. From the beginning God's desire has been that man be of the light and live in the light. In order for that plan to reach its fruition, God designed His chosen redeemed people to be “the light of the world.” It is because of this God-directed plan that Piedmont Bible College exists today. Serving as God's lighthouse, Piedmont seeks to beam its rays of light throughout this dark world. As the light of the glorious gospel shines forth, not only will those who remain in darkness be shown the Way but be- lievers will be edified as they bask in the light of God's love. — Dean Porter 7 3
