The Fanal was named in 1947. It is a Greek word describing the beam of light which radiates from a lighthouse or lamp. The Bible often refers to our Lord Jesus Christ as the light of the world. As His servants we are given the privilege of acting as beams which carry His light to a world lost in darkness. We hope that this years Fanal will be meaningful to you - not only for the memories it contains but also because of the truth it symbolizes. This then is the message which we have heard of him and declare unto you, that God is light, and in him is no darkness atvall) (he Johner: 5).
