As the Lord has blessed us spiritually, He also has multiplied our material blessings a hundredfold. In the fall of 1948 the doors of the John M. Deeds Hall were open to a steady stream of students. It is a two-story brick building with the second story housing twenty-five girls. On the first floor is the library, faculty offices, and class rooms. A modern and well-equipped kitchen and cafeteria with a seating capacity for one hundred and fifty occupies the basement. ; This new building is named in the honor of John M. Deeds, of Hinton, West Virginia. One of the members of the Board of Trustees, his contributions have been an inspiration to all and a constant reminder of our many friends who have made Piedmont not just a dream but a reality. This group, active in presenting its cause, keeps the missionary vision before the students. Those who are purposing to go to the foreign field as well as those who are praying concerning God’s will for them and the part they are to have in spreading the Gospel meet regularly for mission study and prayer. “PRAY YE THEREFORE THE SCORD ORR wy Lu THAT HE WILUSEND FORTH®EABOURERSsINTO@HISS rah Voice Foreign Missions Fellowship 40 DVSAC MOE cin ate Sia at Ponzi PENNINGTON [PENIS Be. ai a oyu a 65 heen Sel ogee JEANNE HARTZ With the addition of Mr. Ponzi Pennington to the teaching force, the music department took on new life. The newly organized chorus testify to the cultural and spiritual development through the ministry of music on the campus. The music is under the direction of Mr. Ponzi Pennington, who has capably presented the P. B. S. vocal ensemble in the signing of gospel hymns. Dr. Charles H. Stevens, who is the pastor of Salem Baptist church as well as the president of Piedmont Bible Schools, brings the brief and vital inspirational message. Every other week on Thursday the students assembled and witnessed anything from the dignity of the class officers to the “happy-go-lucky”? comedy of the Arkansas travelers. The student body president also conducts the necessary business meetings. These services, through variety and informality, have helped to give the students a well-balanced school life.
